A Summer of Sports (so far ...)

Posted | Views: 1,063

Nr 2 Nadal is blown out of Wimbledon by "upstart" nr 100 Rosol. John Lloyd , BBC Sport, remarked, "You kept thinking that at some stage Rosol would realise who he was playing and maybe lose his nerve. But that never happened."

With Nadal out of the races the fight stood between Murray and Federer in the final. Like so many times before the Brit crashed and burned!

On the womens side former nr. 1 Caroline Wozniacki lived up to her current form by hitting rock bottom and going of the pubs in the 3rd round. From her barstool she could watch Serena Williams demolish everything as she went on to win yet again.

the summer's best sports moments

so far...

EuroPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2012

Ukraine & Poland

le Tour de France

the Champions League

Chelsea kicked of summer winning this years champions league. They went into the semi-finals and the final as massive underdogs playing a 8-1-1 line-up with Drogba covering Messi on fullback. The old english guard took everyone by surprise and to home the gold.

Formula 1

Summer has taken us all - It holds on to us with it's forceful grip of sun, freedom, drinks and dreams. Today London opens it's gargantuan gates to world and welcomes all of us to participate in the greatest sports event on the planet. Since Aristotle and the days when Greece were the superpower, the Olympic Games have summoned all of us who belive in sports, and relit dreams of standing on the upper echelons and be hailed by the world. And if you within the next few weeks feel this desire - I suggest you take up Curling! Its never to late to Curl!!

But today we'll take a look at this summers most exciting moments in sports and reminisce the highlights.

F*** it.. If I can't win Ill just take out this guy

Lewandowski and Poland opened the Euros with a stunner against Greece. The game went on with 2 red cards, a missed penalty and a late equalizer.

Even though Ballotelli tried his best to get rid of competition and beat his opponent in all possible ways, Spain prevailed and took home their 3rd consecutive international trophy. First time ever in history.

In the final they completely pummeled Italy 4-0 leaving no doubt.

WIMBLEDON

Fernando Alonso won the European and the German Grand Prix during the summer and put Ferrari back on the map. Red Bull Racing had to settle for the English Grand Prix.

The Beast from the East Peter Sagan rode all the way into the limelight and this years Tour de France will be remembered for his incredible exploits and Chris Froome waiting for Wiggins on several occasions. Who was the rightful winner if not for bureaucracy.

So far it's been awesome and the next weeks will hopefully give us more to cheer for!

fearLESS

Fear no more...

So for what ever reason, people are afraid of being afraid. Now when you get to the nitty gritty of it all FEAR is trapping you from the happiness that you deserve. At some point you have to realize that you are pretty much just afraid of your self and the potential with in yourself. "How is that possible?" and "What the Hell is she talking about?" may be just a few questions running through your head (or mumbled to the screen) It is possible to let fear consume you and keep you from achieving your ultimate goals in life.

So this week's challenge is to do something every day that is outside of your comfort zone. "Like what?" you may ask. Well let see... write down a list of 5 things that you wish you had the courage to do. For example... Fear often keeps me from striking up a conversation with random people. This week I am going to be more out going. Or maybe if you are afraid of being alone perhaps you go to dinner by yourself. Even take this challenge to your workplace. If you need to have more courage and make your opinion know then NOW is the time.

Stop waisting time repeating yesterday and make a change for tomorrow.

Please enjoy this song by Mary J Blige. The movie "THE HELP" was about fighting the fear inside and standing up for who you are. Fear during those times had a very different meaning. But in today's world we have to keep pushing and never settle for less that what you deserve in life. You only get one life so live it. Be free of fear and be the living proof that changing your thought process and letting go of the CANT'S and strive for what you can DO!

 Women in the Arts

Letter from the CEO of Women in the Arts Miami.

Welcome to the 2013 Women in the Arts achievement awards! It’s amazing how much the organization has grown in such little time, and I am so happy to see how much talent there really is in Florida- we have amazing actors, directors, filmmakers, screenwriters, radio personanalities, producers, artists, photographers, hair sylists, make up artsts, fashion designers and entrepreneurs that make Miami what it truly is. I always say that if women could unite and work together hand-in-hand to help each other, perhaps we could make a stronger social impact in our community. I truly believe that us women are unique in our own special way, and we truly do have the power to make a world of a difference, so lets try to bring ourselves closer and lets embrace being women!

Yet as strong as we are as a community, let us not forget the great help given to us by our “constituent counterparts.”  Women in the Arts is honored to be able to recognize not just amazing women, but some of the most talented men that have achieved in and contributed to our community.  Through their helping hand, we have been able to reach farther than thought possible by working together to achieve our mutual successes.

What drives us more than just the premises of personal success, and what was truly my motivation for wanting to start Women in the Arts was the fact that there are not many organizations that help support, motivate and recognize our local talent. It is for this reason that that I love the idea of the Latin and American markets merging together to create opportunity in our community, which is why you have been selected to be a part of this magnificent and special moment where these two worlds merge in one room.  So lets stand up and help transform Miami into the next hub of talent- the next Hollywood!

To our success,

 Diana Laura

Introduction to WITA's Sponsors! Thank you for your support!

Meet William Kennedy:

William H. Kennedy was born in Providence, Rhode Island, but moved to South Florida with his family when he was only three years old.  He has lived in Broward County since the age of three, so he understands the needs of South Florida.  Before becoming a Partner, Mr. Kennedy was employed with the Law Offices of Robert DiStefano (www.distefanolaw.com) since 1988, and while employed, achieved his Jiris Doctor Degree from Saint Thomas University School of Law.  Over the years Mr. Kennedy has gained knowledge and legal experience of handling all types of personal injury and wrongful death cases, PIP litigation, contractual issues, as well as trial experience.

Mr. Kennedy is a firm believer in avoiding the cost, delay, and acrimony of litigation. Even if you win, he understands going to court can be an expensive and emotionally draining experience. As a result, he studies alternatives to the traditional litigation process that have been growing in popularity around the country. These alternatives, known collectively as alternative dispute resolution (ADR), can be used to resolve all types of disputes, from simple disagreements to complex, multi-party conflicts.  Simply stated, ADR is the process of resolving disputes without using the court system. The most widely used methods are mediation (where a neutral third person helps facilitate an agreement between the parties) and arbitration (where a neutral third person hears both sides of a dispute, then issues a decision).

Mr. Kennedy has been a loyal WITA Sponsor for over 3 years.

Walter Chacon

His Love and devotion for animals has won him a Humanitarian Award at WITA's 2013 Achievement Awards. Walter Chacon goes to the Animal Shelters in South Florida and he takes pictures of the pets so they can be posted all over the Social Media and find potential homes for these poor babies.

Two months ago i saw on Facebok the picture of a Beautiful cat taken by Walter. Her name is Delilah, she had been in the shelter for a month and a half and was soon going to be euthanized. I tried to find a home for her and my friend in Los Angeles said she wanted to adopt her so i fostered Delilah and i saw the pain she had in her eyes, i could tell she has been abused. Her pain made me get so attached to her that she became the third cat member of my family and obviously i did not take her to LA with my friend. Now, Delilah is happy and so friendly! No more pain!  We are so proud of you Walter and Thank you so much for all you do.

Here is a short Biography of Walter and his Pets Photography Services

Walter A. Chacon is a photographer and owner of PawPrints, Miami. He specializes in pet portraits serving all of South Florida. Walter has over 20 years of experience in the fine art/commercial art fields. Photography has always been a passion and combined with the love of animals has become a perfect synergy.

Since September of 2011, Walter has been volunteering his time and talents 3 days a week, at the Miami-Dade Animal Services shelter. He presented the idea of taking professional portraits of strays, abandoned and abused animals as a way of giving these "orphans" a better chance of being adopted into a new family. Since then, Walter has taken over 2,000 professional portraits of dogs and cats with many success stories. Making a difference is all that counts.

Walter also is Kiki Hamann Couture dog designer's official photographer.

Born and raised in south florida Christine Curran has always been a rising entertainer. She started as a musician and dancer in high school to then become a full time model and actress. Her career began as a hobby. While going to college she would do photo shoots during her spare time. Surprisingly it really took off when the economy took a hit and so did her full time commission job. This was her chance to chase her dreams. With a degree in marketing and advertising Christine got right to work networking and applying for gigs in South Florida. Since then she has made quite a name for herself. From hosting jobs for big names like Playboy TV to international print ads for Sex Drive Energy Drink. She appeared as the cover girl for Harley Davidson’s statewide print ad in Bikes and Beauties Magazine and was a cover girl for the LA Express in California. You may have seen her on Spike TV or Comedy Central appearing as the lead on a regional commercial for Broward Bar Hunter. She was the official spokes model for La Di Da Lingerie 2009-2010, a ring girl for Don King’s Sizzling Summer Match and has appeared in a music video for Rick Ross. However this isn’t all Christine does. After success in the world of modeling and acting, she ventured off into the other side of entertainment…night clubs and events. This is where Ft Liquordale Entertainment and the Jello Shot Girlz were born. Her entertainment company is one of the most popular ones in south florida and has grown tremendously in 4 yrs.

Girly Stuff!

Contour the Face

Why Contour? Contouring adds definition, structure, and dimension. Some women were born with defined facial features but for the rest of us we should grab a concealer palette and a brush! ;) It’s actually really easy and with a little practice you will become better and more confident in your application process. After reading many blogs and watching lots of tutorials I stumbled across a concealer palette by Sonia Kashuk name hidden agenda-07 which contains two concealer shades, one neutralizer, and one translucent powder. The best part is its at Target for $11…Score! You can apply your concealer with a concealer brush or your ring finger by tapping the face to blend it into skin. First apply your foundation of choice and blend outwards to prevent lines. Next, contour the cheekbones and jaw line with the darker concealer and with the lighter concealer highlight under the eyes, bridge of nose, eyebrow bone, and chin and seal it with your translucent powder. I love this quad because it has everything in ONE! Complete your look by finishing with an all over face powder, blush, bronzer, lips and eyes. I attached a photo of myself after going through the steps above and pictures of Kim K with guidelines on her face to help you see where to apply. Your completed look should be well blended and seamless. Your highlights should play together to create depth and dimension!

Meet our beauty contributor Tamara Coleman!

“ You don’t take a photograph, you make it"
.An Inspirational Q & I Interview with Published Photographer & Photographer of the year nominee  Andrew King from Parkland FL.

Andrew King was born and raised by a free-spirited hippie, a logical engineer, a militant master of the English language, and a bossy sister.

"I'm a lover of cameras, travel, culture, pho, classic pinups, classic motorcycles, swing & blues music, unsweetened-iced-tea

and all type of expressions." Continuing, "I am a teacher, competitor, and fanatic of lindy hop..." Andrew King has been in the industry for over 15 years.

1-Did your early photographic goals include earning a living from photography, or did it start as a way to express yourself creatively?

Photography was always a hobby as I was originally a 3D Animator/Graphics designer.. that moved over to Video Production.. then 6 months
ago quit it all and settled into still photography only. They are all related and I pull from each skill set I  have to create a final product. My
graphic skills helped in photo post production, video production skills helped with interaction and directing models.

2- Which one item of equipment would you say is the most important to you?
My brain.  :)  We all know that photo gear are just tools to accomplish a final product.  I believe a skilled artist should be able to use multiple
mediums. Granted certain tools make it easier than others… but we are in an age where multiple skill sets are invaluable.

3- How do you describe your photographic style?
I'd like to say adaptable.  When I'm shooting for myself and not a commissioned work, I don't want to pigeonhole a style; It's really symbiotic to
mood, the model's contributions, environment, etc.

4-What kind of equipment do you use?

I've got it all.  From "toy" cameras to medium format- I'll use it all.

5-Who are your influences?
Gosh, I literally am influenced every day!  There are so many great photographers out there now a days that can get their work on the internet.
I have so many influences by genres, but if my arm were twisted to name a name... 5 words… British fashion photographer John French!
He was just pure classic, clean, inventive, his shooting was flawless and killer… and I'm jealous of that era of shooters!
6-What projects are you currently working on?

Right now I've started a project working title called White- It's my own exploration of shooting over exposed images.

7-What kind of impression do you hope to leave upon other’s who see your photographs?

Open up your world to a variety of influences and expand your horizons!

8-Are there any photographers who you admire? If so, who are they?

The only photographers I admire are the ones that get inspired and chase that inspiration to its completion, only to head to the next one!

9-Will you ever feel like your work is completed?

HAHAHA…….umm... nope!

10-Define your photography in one sentence.
Improvisational photography….

The correct foundation is crucial  for any face. Paying close attention to your undertones is a great help. When purchasing a foundation, bring along a buddy that will be honest about how you look and if it matches your complexion. when shopping for the perfect foundation, Dont forget,  before you buy, excuse yourself, take a mirror and go outside and look at yourself once the makeup has been applied. Then  and only then will know if you have found the perfect match! For mature skin, stay away from matt foundation, always select a foundation with moisture, this will insure your skin has a supple glow and will illuminate the skin and give a youthful appearance.

LOVE LIFE.... season 7

Posted | Views: 2,535

LIFE

Tell me... Are you happy with your life? I mean everyone has things that they would change OR do over. But today... right now are you happy with your LIFE?

Truth is your life is who you are today. You can't change the past. There will always be something that will remind you of where you've been. For example, past relationships, high an low point of your career and of course memories of family traditions. These are the things that make you who you are.  Through experience.

LIFE is the 7th Season and this is what it is all about. No matter what it is that you are working towards you have to CHOOSE happiness and peace in order to make an effective  change in your life. There will come a time when you will be forced to adjust your attitude. Well guess I shouldn't say "forced" , but you do need to WANT to change. This attitudinal adjustment will truly allow you to enjoy life. Think about it, Times get hard and you won't always have the answers. I want to encourage you to choose a LIFE  without anger and disappointment. I see too many people lugging all that negative energy everywhere they go (even with a smile you can spread negative energy).  So think about that today and every time your mind shifts to Negative you have make it positive.

8 SEASONS - life 7

@ibviben

Ok say it with me... Today I  WILL be happy! Today I WILL be successfully!! TODAY I WILL choose to LIVE my life and be the best that I can be. TODAY I WILL SMILE!!

HAPPY HOUR anyone??

Posted | Views: 3,224

Cant tell you enough how important it is to be still and let your mind and soul be at peace. I have come along way and it used to be impossible for me to be still. But I tell you what.... once you do... your world will change.

You must take time to de-stress your life and seriously have some ME time. I know that this is not always easy for everyone and life is busy. But believe me... once you take just 15 minutes and schedule a "HAPPY HOUR" with yourself... you will be able to handle stress and let things go that you just really can't control. Do this for yourself! Then do it again everyday. LIFE IS TOO SHORT (I hate when people say that) but it's even shorter if you take everything soooo seriously.

Gotta go... time for "HAPPY HOUR" cheers!!

xoxo

did someone say HAPPY HOUR??

BELIEVE

THE HARDEST PART YET... BUT OH SO SIMPLE

by Nina

8 SEASONS - Believe 6

You may be wondering why this is the hardest part yet. So lets dig in.   You've had the grand epiphany and set the goal of how to change your life.   Now that you've overcome the everyday insanity of running in circles you can actually breathe.   Aren't you glad you've let go and stopped looking for confirmation and started saying YES not can't everyday.? YES!!    At this point recognizing that the best is yet to come you can finally start to BELIEVE.   The challenge in this season is  learning to be consistent.  Easier said than done I know.   So be strong!   You can't let obstacles distract you from reaching your goal.  Stay focused an Believe the best that is yet to come. Because it is coming!

So start celebrating! Surround yourself with great friends and family that will continue to support your dreams. Keep in mind that some of the NON-Believers will stray away during this time. But this doesn't mean that they don't care. Believe me, they will be back when they can see progress.

(some people just can't see your vision until you bring it to life)

So guess this is just what you have to do!

SHOW the world what makes you YOU and

Don't stop Believing!

Batman Costumes Banned at Screenings?

Posted | Views: 14,907

BATMAN COSTUMES BANNED AT

DKR SCREENINGS

Batman fans are diehards who love to dress up. Spiderman, Captain America and Iron Man fans love dressing up too. Wearing costumes is rare treat that movie goers love to do before seeing the film. A costume is a chance to incorporate an audience member’s unique style while still showing respect to the movie. Yet, after the Colorado shooting on Friday during the opening night of The Dark Knight Riseshas people reassessing the idea of coming to movies in other than street clothes.

At the Century 16 theaters, a man dressed as a character from the Batman series came in and began shooting into a crowded theater in Aurora, Colorado in the early hours of Friday morning. Leaving dozens hurt, the gunman was mistaken at first as part of the performance. Looking like the character, the fans couldn’t tell if the gunman was with the film or there to cause harm. The lack of response could have been initially because the shooter didn’t look like he was anything more than a fan.

New questions are now being raised if fans should be allowed to dress up as their favorite characters after the incident in Colorado. Creating a larger liability than ever before, the theaters are now considering a ban or limitation on costumes at the movie screenings.

AMC theaters on Friday has announced the immediate policy that no face masks, fake weapons or costumes that would make guests uncomfortable at the theaters. This policy will be enforced immediately to try to provide some comfort for those fans who already bought tickets for the movie.

Would a policy like this saved people in the Colorado movie theater shooting? Unfortunately nobody can answer that question so early in the investigation.

SOUP FOR A CLOUDY DAY

Cloudy day bluez... well fear no more! I am a starving artist so I have really been on a budget. I made this fantastic soup today and thought I'd share it with ya'll (in my Paula Dean voice) Anyhoo... I picked up this bag of Cheddar Broccoli Soup when I was at the grocery store this week (maybe $4). I made a amazing chicken enchilada burrito this week and had rice and black beans left over. So guess what's going in the soup?? You guessed it! BOTH steamed white rice (boil in bag $3 for box of 4) and can off Black Beans (.89)  I seasoned and grilled one of the 4 chicken breast and added it to the party. I used my crock pot but stove top is fine. Just felt like I was doing something special but letting it cook in the crock pot. (Oh-yea) lol I added white queso cheese and sour cream. Let me just say I did the kidNplay dance all by myself (if you are  unfamiliar with this dance then imagine the chicken dance for kicks and giggles) I call it.... Cheddar Broccoli Chicken Casserole SOUP!

Recognize- Season 5

"the point you let go...

and stop looking

 for confirmation from

everyone...

will be when you finally

believe in yourself....

YOU are in CONTROL!"

8 SEASONS - Recognize 5

Listen to this... Do you constantly look to others for approval? Or perhaps you just expect people to care and see things the way that you do? Well I'm sure you know this, but you will never be able to please everyone. Even though you may be nodding your head reading this, thinking "duh! Who doesn't know that?!"  I will have you know that the grouchiest most angry people are guilty of this. Why do you think they are always frowning. Because they spend most of their time thinking that they know everything. So they are mad at the world because they have tried to please everyone and continue running into the same obstacles. A lot of their anger and dissatisfaction comes from attempting to get approval and failing.

The day you let go and stop looking for conformation from everyone, will be the day you start believing in yourself. Once you realize that YOU are in control...the sky is the limit.  Or As I like to say

NO CEILINGS!

The Key to all of this is simply controlling ONLY the things you can truly control. Lets say you run a business and have managers that just don't get it and are not supporting you. Being a Leader means putting on your big drawers (that's what we say in the South means "Man Up") and start training and developing your team. At times you may have to regroup and get NEW people who will support you. But you have to make that choice.  You can run around doing everything on your own OR your can build your team to support you and do things BETTER than you could on you own. By the way...this goes for personal home life as well reread and insert Husband/Wife for managers. Except for the get NEW part... don't give up you're love. Often the tools we use to make us better people can have duel purposes. (DIG THAT?!)Get focused and do everything you can, to make the results that you want happen. Happiness and satisfaction are the results of good choices, Positive communication and patience. And trusting that God is living in you. So stop being that grouchy person that ruins everyone's day and RECOGNIZE you are in control!

NEW JERSEY

IN THIS EP. OF THE HUMBY'S

Burto Humby is battling with the  polluted, unionized heat of the arm bit of America, New Jersey. Burto is still new to the area, and is realizing his new addiction of a fountain drink called Duff Cola. His daughter Alaky joins him for a summer of sweat, wet shorts and heat exhaustion. Can Burto make the summer fun for himself and his daughter? Will his bitching spree take him over the edge? Will North Jersey try to ravage his every move?

Find out in the next ep. of THE HUMBY'S

SAY        YES        NOT       CAN'T   EVERY   DAY

Season 4 is just getting in SYNC. Now that you have your direction and worked out the bugs, and can breathe again. It is time to start believing that you can do anything that you put your mind to.  I absolutely love this season. I laugh at myself, when I look in the mirror with tears rolling down. There used to be a time when I  would begin to speak the negative thoughts out loud. (NEVER DO THAT BY THE WAY)  I would make an excuse for any and everything just to appease myself. Going as far as convincing myself that it was ok to feel sorry... it's like saying "yea... GO ahead and enjoy that pity party... everyone needs a good cry."  I shake my head and giggle at how often I would feed into the fear. Believe me there is NO need to have a  pitty party when you have God in your heart and mind. You just have to tell all that negativity and Fear.

Listen!! it is NOT going down like that...not today!

NOT ANYMORE!

Don't get me wrong, you will still be up against obstacles and have challenges daily. But by saying YES! instead of CAN'T guess what? ALWAYS give your VERY BEST & YOU WILL!

Please enjoy the clip from a very inspiring movie called "Facing The Giants" If you have not seen this in it's entirety I encourage you to do so right away.
