Sandy Damage Estimated at $50 Billion

Estimates of the economic losses caused by Hurricane Sandy earlier this week reached $50 billion as experts assessed the costs of severe property damage, shut-down subways and power outages.
On Thursday, Eqecat Inc. said it expects storm-related losses to fall between $30 billion and $50 billion. Of that, $10 billion to $20 billion will be insured, according to the firm, which calculates estimates for insurers.
Earlier this week, Eqecat had said that damages could reach $20 billion, with up to $10 billion in insured losses.
Several governors of affected states have declared this week that homeowners will not have to pay hurricane deductibles on insurance claims, reasoning that Sandy was not a hurricane when it made land.
New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said in a statement that such deductibles typically range from 1% to 5% of a home’s insured value -- up to $15,000 for a house insured for $300,000.
Separately, analysts predict some $500 million in lost advertising revenue due to the storm, according to media research company Pivotal Research Group. That's about 1% of the quarter's revenue for the industry.

Gov. Chris Christie has signed an executive order postponing Halloween celebrations in New Jersey because of "unsafe conditions" resulting from megastorm Sandy.
"I've taken this action to minimize additional risks to lives and the public safety as we begin the process of rebuilding and recovering from Hurricane Sandy," Christie said Wednesday. "In too many communities in our state, the damage and losses from this storm are still being sorted out, and dangerous conditions abound even as our emergency management and response officials continue their work. As governor, it is my responsibility to use all available resources of the state government to protect against the emergency created by Hurricane Sandy -- postponing Halloween celebrations by five days is a commonsense and necessary step to accomplish that."
Sandy has also caused the cancellation of New York's Greenwich Village Halloween parade, officials said. For the first time in 39 years, a parade that attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists and about $90 million in visitor dollars won't take place, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Halloween cancled? Postponed? What gives? Thanks to Sandy aka Frankenstorm, Halloween sucked this year, in more ways then one.

Net zoals wanneer je op zoek gaat naar een lange, zwarte jas
en terugkomt met 5 shirts, 2 paar schoenen, kilo’s aan accessoires én tromgeroffel... een korte, bruine jas (❤!!) ,
zo verliep ook mijn zoektocht naar het perfecte kerstcadeau dit jaar!
Ik heb vanalles gevonden én geadopteerd (zo noem ik dat tegenwoordig) ,
maar niets blijkt van enig nut te zijn (wat dan wel weer onder de noemer kerstcadeau valt)
en al mijn cadeautjes zijn verre van geslaagd (als in: not that personal and overall not that great...).
Hoe komt het toch dat telkens je iets écht nodig hebt, de enige weg erheen een hindernissenparcour blijkt te zijn dat het universum met veel liefde voor jou heeft uitgestippeld? (#fuckmylife!)
Zeker op momenten als deze kruist mijn pad dat van duizenden andere (hopeloos op) zoekenden en slaag ik erin volslagen vreemden meer tegen het lijf te lopen dan mijn eigen vrienden en familie (letterlijk dan).
So fuck this shit ,
volgend jaar ga ik shoppen met helm én bokshandschoenen en u bent bij deze gewaarschuwd,

Wat ik wel heel fijn vind aan kersmis zijn kerstbomen!
Hoewel ik ervan overtuigd was een perfecte “fake” te willen (geen werk, altijd mooi en liefst al versierd),
ben ik toch gezwicht voor een real exemplaar! En eerlijk is eerlijk, de mijne valt best mee!
Na zijn” kerstboom phone home” gehalte te verminderen door de uitstekende takken aan de top te snoeien, het 2uur durende gevecht om hem eindelijk recht te krijgen en het gezellige versierwerk waarbij slechts de helft van mijn kerstballen gesneuveld zijn, ben ik best tevreden met mijn creatie (dus posten op facebook die handel :-) )
En aangezien ik zelf nog geen kinderen heb en de foto’s van ieders “mini me”
the world wibe web domineren nowadays, vaak in kerstkostuum,
heb ik besloten zelf ook mee te gaan in de hype en mijn mopshond aan te kleden!

Mijn beide ouders zijn van Cuba afkomstig en ik ben er zelf ook geboren.
Toen ik 6,5 jaar oud was zijn we naar België gekomen (mijn mama en haar Belgische vriend).
Mijn familie woont daar nog wel nog steeds, dus we gaan zeker jaarlijks op reis naar Cuba om ze allemaal eens te bezoeken!

zoals mijn familie en vrienden , waren allemaal wel super blij voor me!

Wat zijn je ambities als model? En qua studies/werk?
Mijn bedrijfsbeheer behalen en een eigen winkel opstarten. Een eigen winkel hebben is echt altijd mijn droom geweest en ik wil dat combineren met modellenwerk. Als model wil ik zover mogelijk geraken, maar je mag er natuurlijk nooit te hard op hopen want er zijn maar weinig die het écht maken...
Maar ik ben wel heel ambitieus , dus ik ga ervoor en hoop in zoveel mogelijk magazines te kunnen staan.
Vanwaar komt je liefde voor mode?
Als klein meisje vond ik het altijd al geweldig om mij op te maken, ik vond het toen ook zelfs al geweldig om op foto te gaan, dus de passie voor het modellenwerk had ik ook al van kleinsaf :-).
Waarom is adriana Lima je favoriete persoon? Kijk je naar haar op?
Ze is super mooi en haar uitstraling vind ik geweldig! Ze staat ook niet altijd hetzelfde op foto's ,wat je bij veel modellen wel hebt! Elke foto die je van haar ziet is anders. Ze is mijn favoriete Victoria Secret Angel.

According to a press release given to Street Insider, Disney is already planning Star Wars Episode VII for release in 2015! And on a conference call with reporters, Disney execs said they aim to put out a new live-action Star Wars film every two to three years.
Here’s the official quote from Lucas:
For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next,” said George Lucas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lucasfilm. “It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed thatStar Warscould live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime. I’m confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization,Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come. Disney’s reach and experience give Lucasfilm the opportunity to blaze new trails in film, television, interactive media, theme parks, live entertainment, and consumer products.

Ayoola Akinwumiju, founder of Bigg Ayo Photography, was born in Nigeria but currently resides in Manchester, England. He studied Hospitality Management at the Manchester Metropolitan University. His path to photography came about by accident: “I got a Panasonic Lumix GH1 camera as a birthday gift. I never knew much about cameras, but when going out, I’d carry it with me and try out shots anywhere and everywhere.” Soon, people started telling Ayoola that he took great pictures, so he tried to learn everything he could about his camera. “I would see beautiful images and wondered how I could achieve it.” After a friend recommended he get a Canon 5D MKII, he slowly learned the process of using a manual camera. Then, after realizing that his equipment totaled upwards of £14000, he realized that photography was going to be more than a hobby. He says his inspiration comes from music: “I don’t think I could do anything without music. I love weddings and fashion shoots and this is purely because these occasions are always happy times... moments you want to capture to make others happy. The joy, the smiles, they really are beautiful.” Currently, Ayoola’s fantasy shoot would be a high fashion editorial one in different locations throughout Nigeria. His advice for beginning photographers is to be your best and follow your instincts. “I'm not saying I'm the best, but I'm definitely here to make my mark in the photography world.”
