The many faces of depression

Depression comes with many side effects. Some people know when they are depressed while others do not because they have allowed themselves to be depressed for so long that the depression has taken control of their bodies causing other health issues. It is always good to know when you are someone else is depressed to bring awareness so that they or you can get the help needed. Some signs to look for are

~Feeling sad all the time

~Feelings of worthlessness, guilt

~Loss of sexual drive

~Insomnia (can't sleep or early morning awakenings

~Increase or decrease in appetite causing weight gain or loss

~Loss of energy, hobbies, social interaction

~Thoughts of suicide

~Difficulty making decisions or concentrating

~Physical symptoms that does not seem to go away no matter how they are treated (Migrains, digestive disorders or constant pain.

One important thing to remember is that depression is bought on because of "LACK" of something. When a person looses someone they lack that person in their lives. When a person looses a job, they lack that source of income in their lives. Lack leads back to depression each and every time.

It is a trickle down effect...when things get you stressed out you push it to the back of your mind thinking that you got through another fight but everytime you go through something you never take the time to go back and work on the root of the problem, you keep going and it starts to build up and before you know it, you are sitting in the Dr.'s office with headaches, stomach problems. The Dr. can only diagnose you on the symptoms you give them. They stick a name on it and according to the diagnosis prescribe the medication associated with it. There is only one problem with this....The Dr.'s see so many patients a day that there is no time to really get to the bottom of why you are experiencing these symptoms.

Someone depressed can not possibly make healthy life decisions when the mind is not clear from the beginning. Your career, your spirituality and your physical health is all impacted.
