A lesson in being lonely

What do the lonely do?

Some mistake symptoms of loneliness for the symptoms of depression. It is easy to get the two mixed up. Loneliness can cause a person to become isolated from others out of fear. They try really hard to get back to the point of where they used to be, however they rarely are able to do it. The symptoms of lonliness and depression are so close together that Dr.'s usually end up just treating you for depression as it is a symptom of being lonely. The Dr.'s never treat the core of the problem, which leaves the person to deal with it on their own.

People are lonely for a number of reasons. Like depression, it is because they are lacking something in an area in their lives which causes them to be lonely. Some of those reasons are:

Being Single or having no prospects

Divorce

Death of a loved one

Employment

Moving away

There are plenty other reasons for being lonely, this is just a few.  However these few things comes carrying a heavy punch. Being lonely can cause very serious health issues. Some of the health issues that come with being lonely are:

Severe headaches

Weight Gain, Weight loss

Fatigue

Feeling of worthlessness

Depression

Anger

People who are lonely normally isolate themselves from others out of fear of rejection. They tend to find things to do by themselves so that they won't have to go through rejection.Even though they are isolated, they long for interaction, however fear takes over and they become very anti-social.  When they do meet someone who wants to spend the quality time with them, they usually run them away by being too clingy and obsessive. But they never see it as something they are doing wrong, the only thing they see is that they were just rejected so they withdraw themselves again. This process will last as long as they go untreated and it could get worse.

If not treated being lonely could eventually turn into things that will help take the pain away for them such as alcohol, Drugs, and abuse of food or maybe even other people.

If you or someone you know suffers fromt he above system, make it a point to talk to them and get them the help that is needed.

Until next time,
