Two North Miami Beach Police Department employees have been fired for plotting to put a Santeria curse on the city manager.
Officer Elizabeth Torres, a 24-year veteran of the police department, and Yvonne Rodriguez, an office manager for police chief Larry Gomer, were caught plotting to use birdseed to cast a spell to make Lyndon Bonner "go away" in August before a round of planned departmental layoffs.
Torres told Rodriguez she had previous success with the curse, having made her son and daughter move out by sprinkling it on the front porch of their home, according to the police report.

Investigators say the pair were upset with the "negative climate" in the department, and hatched a plan to similarly curse Bonner by gaining access to his office. Torres admitted to police that she brought the birdseed to Rodriguez, then approached janitor Esther Villanueva, asking her to sprinkle the birdseed in Bonner's office as she cleaned.
The two were busted when Villanueva reported the incident to a supervisor. Though Torres confessed to the plan, she told investigators it was just a superstitious idea and the pair meant no harm.
"It was kind of a joke, kind of a superstition," she said, according to interview transcripts. "It did have bases in religious knowledge I had from before...As misguided as it may seem, this idea popped into my head, and I thought, 'Well, it can't hurt anybody.'"
Fortunately for Bonner, University of Miami Religious Studies professor Michelle Maldonado agrees.
"Ultimately, the city manager really doesn't have anything to worry about. In Santeria, you can't just spread bird seed and make the supernatural do what you want it to do," she told WSVN.
The pair, who were fired last week, can appeal their terminations.

It has been about a month since I sent him a Facebook friend request and became "friend". I am fascinated by street art in general lately, but when I saw the images posted in his Facebook "CLANDESTINE CULTURE", I saw what I been longing to see for quite some time. Following his street activity admirering his artworks became my obsession and I don't know how to articulate the reason why I am so attracted to his works in a emotional level. Images he creates have a minimum amount of colors, so they have a strong visual impact. His bitmap skill is superb. The font he uses is always clean and dynamically simple. His model choices are always quite tasteful.
It seems to me that CLANDESTINE CULTURE is a challenging street art project must be uncommissioned in order to NOT to be controlled by anyone, any instutution, any authority. and on top of that, he has got this location risk: Miami Wynwood district, and the challenging size (his large poster to be 8ft-11ft tall), most parts are hand painted by him.

the documentation of his activities as he updates in Facebook, Livestream and other social media network tools, using photos and videos shows the beginning of his craft making to the finished artwork. He always go back to the street location where he has worked and documents the scene, and shares it with us. Sometimes his artwork is ripped down within 24 hours.- see the left hands side for one of the most recent work he has put on a Wynwood wall. This is quite a ride if you start to follow his activity and share the thrill and feel his adrenalin rushes.

Igor Eskinja constructs his architectonics of perception as ensembles of modesty and elegance. The artist “performs” the objects and situations, catching them in their intimate and silent transition from two-dimensional to three-dimensional formal appearance. Using simple, inexpensive materials, such as adhesive tape or electric cables and unraveling them with extreme precision and mathematical exactitude within strict spatial parameters, Eskinja defines another quality that goes beyond physical aspects and enters the registers of the imaginative and the imperceptible. The simplicity of form is an aesthetic quality that opens up a possibility for manipulating a meaning. It derives, as the artist states, from the need for one form to contain various meanings and levels of reading within itself. The tension between multiplicity and void constitutes one of the most important aspects of Eskinja’s mural “drawings” and seemingly flat installations. A void is still an active space of perception; it does not conceal; it comments on the regime of visibility, it invites the viewer to participate in the construction of an imaginary volume in an open space. The temporary nature of the artist’s spatial structures and the ephemeral quality of his carpets (where ornaments are carefully woven out of dust or ash) manifest a resistance to the dominant narratives of institutional apparatus and socio-political order.

We spoke with Miss Ladyfinger herself, Taryn Multack, and she'll be creating nail designs just for us in the coming weeks. Her first, based off of Matthew Williamson's SS 2012 show, blends teals and browns seamlessly together.
Start off by applying a a teal coat of polish to your nails.
Use a thin nail art brush (can be found at your local beauty supply store) to apply a brown-gold polish in a zig zag motion horizontally along the center of the nail. This area does not have to be perfect; the point is for there to be uneven, flowing lines.

What do you get when you have a dirty car and a creative person around? You might see some awesome dirty car art. I am used to seeing text on cars saying "clean your car" or other obscene images or words. But, this artist (which I have no clue who she is) did this great image of Marilyn Monroe...with no reference material. Not bad, maybe this isn't the first time she has done this.

The Philips Company of the Netherlands invented and released the first compact audio-cassette in 1962. They used high-quality polyester 1/8-inch tape produced by BASF. Recording and playback was at a speed of 1.7/8 inches per second.
The next year in the U.S. sales began of the Norelco Carry-Corder dictation machine that used the new cassette tape. The consumer's demand for blank tape used for personal music-recording was unanticipated by Philips.

The artist did molds of real bones with provenance from different dead people and after reproduced in wax each one, adjusting them and creating the representation of a new subject in that sculpture. The weight of the concrete is used like a symbolic element. Equilibrium is as a metaphor of struggle and resistance. Gravity reminds the spiritual weight that everyone supports and talks about fragility of our own life.

the arcade game published and developed by Nintendo in 1983. Mario Bros. was created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Gunpei Yokoi, two of the lead developers for the video game Donkey Kong.
Mario Bros. features two plumbers, Mario and Luigi, having to investigate the sewers of New York after strange creatures have been appearing down there.
I happend to find these 3 Mario Brothers related videos in the same day! They gave me flashbacks of the good old time of the early video arcade era in Tokyo where My dad took me to a game arcade in Tokyo Tower
At the time, Mario Bros looked totally westernized to me, I never knew that they were made by Japanese developers. (did you know?) and now I realize that maybe they could be Italian immigrant New Yorkers?
