A Letter From the Editor
This magazine is meant to be based off an issue of Cosmopolitan, with feminist ideals incorporated in it. The majority of the articles were created by me, however there are a few that I took from the magazine and another website because I believed they served my purpose well and belonged in this issue of Embrace. I'd like to take this time to credit them; thank you!

How To Set Up Your Desk For the Most Success
By: Sammiegirl
1. Prioritize! Which items on your desk do you use daily? If you never or seldom use something, get rid of it. Put it in a filing cabinet or less accessible area in your office. Putting these items elsewhere will make more room for the things you do use often.
2. Put frequently used items in easy to reach areas. A shelf or drawer will do just fine; it can be the top-most drawer in your desk. Some frequently used items include:
Extra pens/pencils
Sharpener
Stapler
Small notebook
Highlighters
Sticky notes
Paper clips
Tacks
3. Clean the top of your desk. In order to have the most success in your work space, your desk should not have much on top of it. When the desk appears less cluttered, you feel less stressed. Ideal things to keep on your desk would be:
Lamp
Computer
A cup to hold pens and pencils
Phone
Sticky notes next to the phone
A desk is a workflow system and in order for it to fulfill its purpose, it must be set up in the most organized manner. Your desk needs to be organized so it can help you be as effective as possible. Follow these tips and you’re desk will be set up so you can maximize your work productivity!
4. Papers. Place loose papers in a desk box. If you are still working on them, mark them by using a tiny dot on the top. Papers that are not being worked on can be placed in a binder or folder and in a filing cabinet. Take advantage of file labels and dividers!
5. Trash. Keep a trash can under your desk, but away from where your feet will be. This way you don’t have to constantly get up to throw any trash out.
6. Use your entire area! If you can, pin a calendar and/or cork board to the wall closest to your desk. This will give you more work space that won’t be taken up by a calendar.
7. Decor. If you want to personalize your desk, feel free to add a small picture or two or compact plant. It’ll add some color to your desk. If you can, post some pictures on the cork board or wall!
