The Romero Times
Malique Rodwell and Alan Coss, Class of 2021
What is it that a president must have in a president election? November 8 of 2016 will answer the question of who will sit in the Oval office next. In the presidential election, different congressmen and businessmen from around the U.S will be competing against one another for votes.    Some of the candidates running for president in 2016 include Marco Rubio, Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders, many of which people love and people really don't love.
The New York Times is furious after Donald Trump mocks a NYT journalist with a disability.  This was caught on video by a reporter from the same company. Donald Trump denied it and said that they are overreacting and making false accusations. This is not the first person he has insulted.  On national television he insulted Obama saying, "If he does not get rid of ISIS, I will.” “And on that note he said "all Muslims should not be aloud in the country”. Hillary Clinton's opinion on that is like the strategy of Obama, change the immigration system to allow more immigrants legally.

Many candidates are exaggerating information to make themselves sound better. Ted Cruz in his speech in New Hampshire to his locals that contained misleading claims about the climate science and its term. A Ted Cruz TV ad in South Carolina blames President Obama for “threatening 3,000 jobs at Fort Jackson.” Actually, only 180 jobs were cut. The potential for more job cuts was avoided by a bill signed last year by President Obama and opposed by Cruz. Donald Trump made two false statements on ABC’s “This Week” while discussing foreign policy and the Republican presidential primary.

Gun law and regulations is another topic of debate. An anonymous person quoted, “Trump is another person who likes control and power.”
Jeb Bush quoted, “Our friends will no longer think we have their backs and our enemies will no longer fear us if Clinton is elected.” And our retired veterans went viral online after they quoted, “If Trump is elected America and its citizens will go down.” With this it shows that leaders have to show how America can be brought together and not torn apart. Do you think insulting other candidates will help you?

In conclusion it doesn't matter who insults who,  it all comes down to who will lead our country to greatness. Or who will lead us to be apart. Who will be the 45th president?
2016 Presidential Election
Osvaldo Ornelas, Class of 2020
Many of the best teachers out there are inspired by their students to keep teaching. Mr.Beriault in Bella Romero k-3 campus is one of these teachers.

Mr. Beriault has been teaching since 2006 and he has taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. This year, 2016, he is teaching second graders. His favorite part of teaching is to make a difference and to mark a chapter of the learning process in his students lives. He enjoys teaching math because it is universal and it only has one language. Back then when he was in high school, his hardest class was algebra because he couldn’t make sense of it and the rules to it changed compared to normal math.

Lots of teachers always make sure that each student learns everything besides just academics. For example, Mr. Beriault is always making sure that his students learn everything, not just academics but responsibility as well. He always makes sure that his students put away their technology after they finish using it and he makes sure students put the technology such as computers exactly in the slot they go to. This is one of the ways Mr. B teaches the students to be responsible.

Teachers that are really focused in their students learning and always writing in the correct way like writing with correct spelling, punctuations, etc. are very great and responsible teachers. Mr. Beriault is also one of these teachers because he makes sure each student learns the specifics of everything such as using correct spelling, punctuations, etc. He reminds students constantly to remember to be using correct grammar and spelling when writing. Reminding the students is very helpful rather than a teacher just telling the students to write and not reminding them to be writing the correct way.
Mr. Beriault is also a very excellent and supportive teacher when it comes to reading something. Mr. Beriault is supportive because while students read, he knows that when students improved in reading, he tells them that they got better. This is a great way to be supportive to the students. Mr. B also teaches students that when someone in their reading group gets stuck reading something, he tells the students to help eachother out. This proves just how a very excellent and supportive teacher Mr. Beriault is.

Therefore, Mr. Beriault is very fabulous teacher when it comes to teaching. He is very supportive to his students and very helpful. Mr. Beriault shows that he really cares for his students and a better future for them by the way he teaches and supports his students.

Spring Break is Coming Soon, What Will You do?
 Armando and Shawn
This is your ultimate Spring break guide, some people might leave and some might stay.
We are going to start with what we think we are going to do for spring break. So, there are lots of things that people do over spring break, it can be the best thing you've ever done, or it can be the worst. We decided to start with a good one, this was Shawn's idea. You can go Vacation, you know, go to a lake or a cabin, that's always fun (no it's not). Here is a thing most people find fun, this includes playing video games, you can always stay inside and play on a console, it’s much better than going outside in the chilly temperature.
Since we told you what we are going to do, we are going to give you some ideas of what you could do. You could always spend time with family, you can go and watch a movie with your family, or have a game night. Spring break can also be a time to bring people together, like your brothers and sisters, you can even go and experience something new.
Spring break was made because students need a break from their 8 months of schools. Scientist show that break and exercise causes students to work more effectively in school and focus better. This is one of the main reason we have spring break so let’s take advantage of it. We can always sleep in and stay up late. That is when you can go on Youtube and just watch the night away. Can you believe that some people get homework for Spring Break. Some people do homework all of Spring Break, I’m not suggesting anything but… it’s an idea.

That last comment was kinda scary. Will you be that person does homework all spring break or will you be the person that relaxes and stays with family?

 Valentine’s/Galentine’s day
 By: Sumiko & Naomi
Valentine’s day is around the corner! There is a special day where you can spend time with a loved one. If you are one of those who doesn’t have a special someone, then there is a day where you can have just as much fun but with your friends! That day is called Galentine’s day.

Galentine’s day is a holiday celebrated on February 13th. It’s a day when single gals (and dudes) hang out with their single friends, celebrate their friendships, and appreciate them for who they are. Galentine’s day was invented by a woman named Amy Poehler(Leslie knope is her character name from parks and recreation that she). Amy/Leslie passed her idea on to the show that she is in called Parks and Recreation (season 2 episode 16 came out on February 11, 2010).

Valentine’s day is a special day for people to be with their boyfriend/girlfriend. On this special day you can take your valentine date out to dinner, or a special place, or even get them a box of chocolates, roses, and a big teddy bear. This holiday started out with Roman history. Women would put their names in a jar and men would draw a name and would have that woman for one year. This would usually would go on to February 13 to February 15. Now we have valentines day to celebrate it with our true love.

In Bella Romero there are two specific experts who know a lot about Val/galentine’s day they are also know as love experts. You may know who these people are… they are Miss. Mattivi, and Mrs. Dodson. These two teachers here at Bella Romero happen to know quite a bit about Val/Galentine’s day.

Miss. Mallory Mattivi said she strongly likes Valentine’s day because of all the fun you can have on this special holiday. She enjoys this holiday because of the candy and other interesting activities that you can do. Whereas Mrs. Cary Dodson likes Valentine’s day because she finds this specific holiday romantic. She gets to make a special diner with her husband, and they can just spend time together. Being that Valentine’s day is such a special holiday Miss. Mattivi likes to go with her friends and go to the movies, or get take out food, and watch all the couples. Where there is Mrs. Dodson that likes to celebrate Valentine’s day because of the fact that she can make this holiday not only special for herself, but for others too.

Being that Valentine’s day is such a special holiday, what are you going to do?
                                                HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!!

Ouija Board
Esmeralda
“It’s only a game. Isn’t it?”
The Ouija Board was first created in February 1891. Some people may believe in it, some people think it’s a myth. It has been used by thousands of people.
“It scares me, it happens for no reason” said Alan Canales Castillo. Alan has no experience. Although he was very curious. Some advice he had for people was “Never mess with the Ouija board.” He also did the sign of the cross every time he was going to say something about the Ouija Board.
“After you play a part, you think of it as your own.”

The Ouija board has been used for many things, mostly to contact the dead. The Ouija board is best known to cause deaths and too haunt.
“It was really popular way back then, now it is coming back” quoted Ms. Guilbert. You want to make sure you contact the right spirits, contacting the wrong spirits can lead to death. A spirit or demon is capable of anything.

Pc V Console: You Decide
Alan Castillo
There has always been a fierce battle between PC and Console since they were both invented. Most people will say that console is better than PC but we would have to say that is a false claim. Overall, the Console is pretty great yes, but the thing with Consoles is they can not be easily modified. In the end it’s your choice!

With consoles you can do many things but not as much as you could do with PC. Consoles are cheaper than a PC most of the time! They can cost from 199$-499$ but the price may vary on the console that you prefer. Also, most people would prefer a console in there living room with there big T.V than a monitor.

With PC you can do much more things than you can with a console but with a price. A PC that would be a equivalent to console would cost around 499-1,000 depending on the console that you choose to be the equivalent. You can also have a customized PC that can express your creativity and have a unlimited amount of modifications.

Based on our observations and research, 7/10(70%) of people would rather have a console over a PC. In the end it’s the choice of the consumer.

2016 Top Food Trends
Kenya  Contreras
Wow! Real gold on a donut and it’s edible. Is this the life we’re living in? 2016 has brought very new exciting food trends that will blow your mind.
An incredible food trend this year is the Golden Donut. The mastermind behind this crazy trend is Delacruz. It’s a gold-ube donut, adorned with icing made of crystal champagne and filled with an ube mousse, champagne jelly, and covered with 24k gold. The amount of money for a single donut is 100 dollars. “If someone bought me a golden donut, I would definitely try it, but I would have gold somewhere else,” claimed our foodie, Katie Guilbert. Many people are willing to buy these, so far Delacruz has sold so many donuts he can't keep count. This is a one-kind of a donut.
Some other food trends are Parmesan Toast, Fruit Infused Water, Spiced Up Yogurt, Fermented Foods, Sushi Burrito, Ramen, and Avocado toast. Some of these trends are drowning and many of them have become a topic. “ I really like all food trends except Spiced-up yogurt,” Katie Guilbert shared with us. Even though she prefers healthy food trends.
Not only can people in New York try these food trends, but so can we. You can find these food trends all over the world, maybe even make these at your house. Katie Guilbert has tried some of these trends, “ I have tried Kombucha drink, it's like a fermented food, Avocado Toast, Fruit Infused Water, and Ramen. The one I really want to try next is the Sushi Burrito.” These food trends might just be around the corner.

Will this be the beginning of the future? Many will wonder what will be the next trending plate.

Top 5 NBA teams to Watch
Aaron Navarro
Fans are shocked watching NBA teams fight their way to the NBA Finals. ’’The Cleveland Cavaliers are a favorite of many fans because LeBron James dominates on the court.” Mrs. Jones’ favorite basketball player is Tim Duncan simply because he is not cocky. Her favorite teams are Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors,San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers, and Indiana Pacers. Mrs. Jones has been coaching basketball for a total of six years, 3 years for high school and 3 years for fun. During her college years she played basketball for Southern Kentucky and won the National Championship vs. North Dakota. She is retired because her body has been hurting. Now she enjoys ‘’watching’’ basketball.
“I love it,” Coach Xavier said. “Denver Nuggets are my favorite basketball team.” Coach Xavier said simply because Denver is my hometown. “LeBron James is a beast on the court and he is my favorite basketball player because he has the same last name as me.”

 Life Skills 101: Cooking
Brianna H and Brianna V
Cooking is a science. Cooking is love. Cooking is a passion. Although, it may not be yours, it is a necessary life skill to have.
Cooking is a very important life skill to have. If you know how to cook it can save you a ton of money and you can keep yourself healthier, Mrs.Anderson had stated, “Cooking is a good life skill to have because you can save a lot of money by cooking at home and you can make healthier foods.” Both of these are very important elements in your life. You are saving money because you don’t have to go out to eat every night which can become very expensive; not to mention unhealthy, and by making your own food, you can make it much healthier to your liking and it will make it cheaper on you.
Also, when cooking at home it can make for great family time. A lot of families cook together, which is a great bonding experience. A student from the class of 2023 says, “Cooking is something my whole family does together sometimes and we all have a good time together.” Family is a big part of life and by cooking you can teach and have fun together.
Some people think cooking takes a lot of talent but in reality; it doesn’t. Anyone; no matter what age can make something scrumptious and healthy. Ms. Swanson refers to Chopped Junior as a good example of taking something simple and turning it into a creative dish. She also stated that she thinks anyone can do it. If you go online, there are many websites you can go to that will give your great and easy ideas for meals. Some of these sites may be allrecipes.com, realsimple.com, kids health.org and many more. All of these sites have kid friendly recipes that anyone can do. Here’s a quick recipe made with Maruchan Ramen Noodles and Boneless Beef Chuck Short Ribs:
Ingredients:
Stir Fry
3 Beef Chuck Short Ribs
Whole Onion
2 Jalapeno Peppers
Meat Tenderizer
Black Pepper
Garlic Powder
Salt
3 Chili Powder packages from Maruchan Ramen
Noodles
3 Maruchan Ramen Chili Flavor Noodle
Crushed Oregano
Stir Fry Steps
Chop the 2 Jalapeno peppers into small pieces
Cut ½ of a whole onion, and cut it into large slices
Place pan on stove and place ¼ cup of canola oil in the pan and turn it on low.
Place the now cut Jalapenos and onion into the pan.
Take the 3 Beef Chuck Ribs and cut each into 8ths.
For the seasoning, take the three Chili Powder seasonings for the Ramen packages and place it with 1 teaspoon of Meat Tenderizer into a bowl.
Take one Tablespoon of Garlic Powder and mix it with the Meat Tenderizer/Chili Powder mix.
Place ½ Teaspoon of Salt and ¼ teaspoon of pepper into the concoction.
Bread the pieces of Beef Chuck Ribs in the seasoning and place in pan with the Onions and Jalapenos until the meat is done.
Noodles
Place the three blocks of noodles into a pot with 6 cups of water. Let simmer with a pinch of salt for 30 minutes.
Once the noodles are done, place ¼ cup of Crushed Oregano in with the noodles.
After both parts of the meal are done, place the noodles on a plate, and put a serving of the now cooked Beef Chuck Rib slices with Jalapenos and Onion on top. Add any additional toppings as needed or wanted.
Idaly a student from the class of 2020 says “It’s crazy how great it tasted even though it was such an easy recipe. My favorite part of the dish, had to be the meat. I loved the flavor.” As you see it here, cooking is one of the many secrets of life.

Sports Fans Across the Nation are Going Crazy for Super Bowl 50
Maktar yarrow(you will be missed, don't worry, he didn't die he just moved), Dominic plascencia, Hamdi Hussen,

Sports fans across the nation are going crazy for one of the biggest days of the year. Of course, I'm talking about Super Bowl. So this year's biggest question, who's gonna clash in the super bowl 50th birthday?
Almost everyone thinks that the Broncos are going to make it in the super bowl but before it all aired we found people that thought otherwise. “ I thought that the Seahawks were going to win, but they didn't…”said an anonymous Seahawks fan who was devastated. “Bronco all the way fam” Says an anonymous broncos fan.
Some people even went as far to get tattoos of their favorite team winning the Super Bowl. They probably have so much regret right now. Sunday, February 7th is the day of the Super Bowl. I’m pretty sure if anybody has to work on Sunday nobody will show up.
“my prediction for the Super Bowl is the Panthers,” Says one of our our authors. “For me personally, I thought that the Steelers were gonna win but they didn't,” says the author
1 week later
Well, now we know who was the best of Super Bowl 50, the Denver Broncos. Fans of the Broncos celebrated well after the superbowls into the night. Even some of our students went to the Broncos parade! Many Broncos fans though they were gonna lose but they won 10 to 24. Cam newton wasn't even able to dab after that game (SHOTS FIRED)

This year 2016 Bella Romero Academy of Applied Technology has their first year of wrestling We are excited to see our lobos wrestle and represent us. Wrestling is going to be very fun and interesting for our wrestlers.
Wrestling has been an official sport since 1830. Wrestling requires two people and their target is to pin their opponent to the ground. They’re many ways to get points in wrestling, you could do a takedown that’s when you hit your head on their stomach, grab their legs, and throw them on the ground that is worth 2 points. Another way to get points in wrestling is a reversal which gives you 2 point, to do this move you have to be able to get out of being on the bottom. The uniform that you are required to wear headgear, singlet, and special type of shoe. As you can see, wrestling is a complicated and active sport.
Many of our lobo wrestlers say that they love being able to live wrestle with their friends and amazing coaches. They say that the coaches really help to show them how to get the most points and score better to get us to the top. Some of our more experienced wrestlers are really happy they can represent our team! Some of the new wrestlers on the team are happy they didn’t have to wrestle and represent someone else. We have not lost many of the matches and tournaments. As a team (dual battles) we are 1-2. Tonight, Thursday, February 4th, 2016 we are hoping to get another win and be 2-2. Therefore, our lobo wrestlers love our team.
Along with our amazing wrestlers we have amazing coaches. We have coach McDougle, Segura, Banas, and Moore. The most experienced coach is the amazing coach Banas. He has been interested in wrestling since he was in 5th grade. He coached 15 years at Greeley Central High School, the a few years at UNC (University of Northern Colorado), and finally 7 years at John Evans Middle School. He said that he loves working with the wrestlers and showing them how to wrestle. “Wrestling is a hard and difficult sport,” says Coach Banas.
As you can see, wrestling is an active fun sport. Also, our wrestlers have been doing a great job and very hard work.

Students at Bella Romero are creative in their own way. Mrs. Thurman an art teacher from 4-8 Campus at Bella Romero, shared some of her art experience with us. Mrs. Thurman is a big part of the school. “My high school teachers inspired me, they were really fun to be around and had awesome ideas and were really encouraging,” stated Mrs. Thurman. Mrs. Thurman challenged herself each year with hard work, by going to college for 5 years, to become an art teacher. Mrs. Thurman’s high school teachers inspired her to become an artist.
Mrs. Thurman’s interest are mostly involving art related things. The medium she like using is paint, in specific she likes using acrylic paint. The reason why she likes using acrylic paint is because it dries faster and it gives her more time to finish her paintings. Her future project is to make an mural. Mrs. Thurman’s favorite artist is Vincent Van Go, and her favorite paint is Starry Night.
Mrs. Thurman’s sells her paintings to her family and friends. She stated that she doesn't do it for the money she enjoys that her family and friends has an interest in her paintings. Mrs. Thurman also doesn't give her paintings away without choosing the one she wants to keep. Mrs. Thurman’s paintings are unique in her own way, she may be replicating a picture but she improves the picture and makes it look amazing.

The students may have the own creative way of making their drawings, painting and etc. But Mrs. Thurman is the one who helps them improve their skills and make their creatives bigger and brighter. Mrs. Thurman’s inspiration, skills and creativity had made these kids and this school look amazing and creative in our own way.

In conclusion, Mrs. Thurman is an inspiring, creative person with her paintings. She enjoys painting like no other. Her paintings are inspiring and creative, they are also beautiful in their own way. Her painting skills are the best and the 5 years of college had paid off.

Fashion is the one thing that tells you who people are. Many people  dress differently but that shows that the people that dress that way it's there personality. Sometimes people have many styles when the different seasons come. Personality is what makes people dress the way they do and many have different personality's so makes people dress in different ways.

I have interviewed some people to see the way they dress and to see why they like to dress that way because of there different personality's. I interviewed Maliah a 8th grader from the class of 2020 to see Her style. The brands she wares are Nike,Levi's, Aeropostale, And under armor. The stores she shops at are Ross, fans, Burlington,
Rue 21, and Victoria's Secret. The ways types of clothes that Maliah wears are in the summer shorts, tank tops. In the winter she wears long sleeves, jeans, and boots. That's Maliahs style and  Why her personality makes her dress that way.

I have interviewed Maria a 7th grader from the class of 2021 and  I was going to see if her personality would be similar As the 8th grader Maliah. The types of brands that Maria wares are Vans, Nike sandal's, Rue 21, and Aeropostale. She shops at Rue 21, Clare's, Jc penny, and Nike store. In the seasons yes she dresses differently. She wears hoodies in the winter as well as sweats, joggers, boots and gloves. In the summer she wears shorts, muscle shirts, T-shirts, tank tops and dresses.

So this shows that many people with different personality dress  differently. In the interviews I learn that different seasons will make people dress people differently and in the personality will make person dress the way they dress.

On September 14, the entire 7th grade had a "Economic Fair" at all of the 7th grade classes, to learn about supply and demand. This project was prepared far for two weeks. This was the first year it was done, so no one really knew what to do! Since no one really knew what they were doing, no one really knew what they were up against.

Competition was motivation for all of the students making products. They were trying to make other products than other "Companies". Since most of the other products were so well made(or bought) and students only got 15 dollars, it was really hard to make a good decision on what to buy.

Of course because something like this is new, there are going to be a few problems to work out for next year. The students only got five minutes in each class. Some people think this was not nearly enough time. Miss Mattivi said " A bigger room would have been nice because they did not have enough time to make smart decisions." So as you can see this Economic fair was not perfect.

The products were the main part of it all so I think its only fair we talk about them. One of the students said " I spent all of my money because there were so many good products." Another said "There was not enough time." But the important thing is that everyone made a product.

So the "Economic Fair" was messy, but it still taught all of the 7th graders about supply and demand.
And who knows, maybe next year it will be even better.
Syria War Forces Immigrants to Move to Other Countries

by Juan Martinez Ayala, Class of 2021

The war in Syria has been taking so long it has been going on for 4 years. Also until today the war is still going on it has been causing very devastating damage. The damage of the war is forcing immigrants to move to other countries
The countries are overflowing with immigrants and they going to be forced to build a border. The border was built with bricks and the police are looking for the immigrants that are in there country. The immigrants are going on trains and are hiding on the trains as well. There are more than 4 million refugees that are in 5 host countries. But also there are than 16 million refugees in need of help outside and inside of Syria.
The Russians launched an airstrike on Syria and it made the situation a lot worse. The Russians began airstrike on a Wednesday. The US and the Russian, president sat down and discussed the airstrike. Defense Secretary Ashton B accused Russia of pouring gasoline on the fire.
More than over 250,000 Syrians have died in the Syrian Civil War. But also more than 11 million have been forced to move out of there homes because of President Bashar al- Assad. When the war barely started it was a regular war and then it turned into a Civil War. During August 2013 there were hundreds of dead people the cause were rockets.
The war has been devastating for a really long time with millions dead. Also many refugees have fled Syria and are looking for a new home. But the damage is the worst, many homes destroyed and many homeless.

Denver is on a winning streak! How it's mostly the defense by making interceptions and returning the ball for a TD, getting sacks, and making fumbles. Also including the offense too because of Peyton and his wide receivers. By making field goals, and the running game too getting yards for a pass or a field goal to win the game.

Manning hasn't been throwing good like he use to, he has thrown 11 interceptions this season and could throw more. His arm strength is not as good as it was back then Manning has the second lowest QB rating.
On October 14, 2015 someone asked Kubiak on Monday whether he should consider rotating quarterbacks, Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler. But Kubiak said "No, Peyton is doing just fine."Peyton got angry because someone suggested that he shouldn't be on for every snap.

The Broncos defense is doing good because most of the wins was the defense by making interceptions, fumbles, and sacks. They have been getting through the line and giving the QB pressure pushing them back and forcing the QB to throw the bad pass or getting sacked.
Denver is 7-0 winning the Green Bay Packers on November 1, 2015 they are still undefeated and could they win the Indianapolis Colts. Making the Broncos 8-0 we will found out on November 8, 2015.
The mine was abandoned and the waste from the means to mine for gold was to slowly eroding the rock and build up to the point of leaking though a small hole. Than the leak that caught the attention of the EPA then tried to stop the leak but resulted in a major spill that the state is trying desperately to clean the river and the EPA is trying to find the cause of the spill. The state is still trying to clean the river back to the former state.

Cleaning the river is not the end of the work the repopulating the river with the same fishes and plants. The state must reduce fishing until the fishes come back to the previous amount that lived in the river. The plants would have to need to have special because the soil, the polluted dead plants, and the winter coming and the plant might not be able to hibernate in time to survive.

The state is trying to find where the waste will flow because the worst case scenario is the waste goes to the Colorado River and leaves the state and all that depend on the river in a drought like state. The state is trying to do 1 of 2 things the first is finding the path. The other is trying to stop the waste from touching the colorado river. The result of the waste coming into the Colorado River is the the biggest resource of fresh water and if the water was polluted water would be more valuable so every water bill would increase so less is bought to save water until the problem is fixed.

The mine waste is a very important problem that must be fixed immediately to save the ecosystem and water to stop future problems and to save the basque economy to avoid a verbal war throughout 7 states to get water to the people of the state. The economy of the west would fall if the waste is not controlled a war of words would destroy the west of America. Water is key and could be destroyed along with a big part of America.
The Beginnings of the Syrian War

By August Htoo, Class of 2021

How the war started in Syria and Russia. The Russian and Syria were launching rockets to each other. The war happend for 4 years and 40.000 people died . The war was an ongoing international conflict. It all started in spring 2011 within the context of Arab Spring protest. The conflict gradually morphed from prominent protest to an armed rebellion after months of military seiges.
What was the conflict between. More than 250,000 Syria have lost their lives in four and a half year of armed conflict which began with government protest before escalating into a full-scale civil war. More than 11million others have been forced from their homes as forces loyal to president Bashar al-assad and these opposed to rule battle each other as well as jihudist militants from Islamic state this is the story of civil war so far, in eight short chapters.
How many have been injured and killed in the Syria war against Russia. Violence escalated and the country decended into civil war as rebels brigades were formed to battle government forces for control of cities towns and the country sides fighting reached the capital Damascus and second city of Aleppo In 2012 By June 2013 the UN said "90,000 people hade been killed in the conflict.". However by August 2014 that figure had more than doubled to 191,00- and continued to climb to 250,000 by August 2015, according activist and the UN.
Some people use chemical weapon. Hundreds of people were killed in August 2013 after rockets filled with the nerve agent were fired at several agriculture district around Damascus , western power outraged by the attack, said it could only have been carried out by syria's government. The regime and its ally Russia blamed rebels.
The human crisis. More than 4 million people have fled Syria since the start of the conflict, most of the woman and children. It is one of the largest refugee exodus in recent history. Neighboring countries have burn the brunt of the refugee crisis with Lebanon, Jordan and Tunkey struggling accommodate the flood of new arrius. The exodus accelerated dramatically in 2013, as conditions in Syria deteriorated.

      Trump Will Change U.S

By Kenya Contreras, Class of 2020
As we all know Donald Trump wants to win the presidential election in 2016. Like every other candidate, he says how he will make America a better place for everybody. In some very controversial statements, Trump has said that he’s going to help make America a better place by deporting all the Mexican immigrants back to Mexico. This idea has many families concerned thinking about their future in this country.

If Trump won the election for 2016 he would affect millions of Mexican families. “I wouldn’t achieve my dreams if he becomes president. Because I wouldn’t have the same opportunities I have here, ” said Ivett Arredondo, a 2020 student at Bella Romero Academy. He might change the future for immigrants by education. Education in Mexico is so much different, than here in the United States. His plan is to deport all the Mexican families back to Mexico.

Another way he can change the future for Mexicans is that all the immigrants will have to go back to Mexico which means that most will lose their jobs, homes, etc. Trump thinks that Mexicans are bad for the U.S economy. But actually they are good. They’re the ones that work in the agriculture and construction; they get payed the minimum wage. If they didn’t work in the agriculture and construction, we wouldn’t have no roads or nobody to take care of our crops. Ivett also said,” He should think more if what he says, we work; we don’t stand outside asking for money.”

If Trump were to send all immigrants back to Mexico like he said, then everything would change. “United States would go down, the economics would go down. Most of the economics depend on the Hispanics.” said Agustina Contreras, a Hispanic mother. Trump also said that he wasn’t going to “split families”. Instead he was going to keep them together but, they have to leave U.S. He also said that if they didn’t have a place to go, he will work something out so that the families do leave U.S.

As an overall, Donald Trump will affect the lives of Mexicans, if he wins the election. He will also change the future of teens and children by changing their education.

Halloween is a day celebrated yearly, with many ways of celebrating it.

The day of Halloween is celebrated on October 31. Halloween actually originates from “All Hallows Eve”. It’s said to be the one day in the year in which the dead can reveal themselves on earth's surface. It can be known as All Hallows Eve, All saints Eve, Hallow-e'en.  There are plenty of ways to celebrate it, too. The most common way is to go trick-or-treating, but there are other ways,  for example, bonfires, haunted attractions, and or you could visit a deceased loved one's grave to pay your respects.

For Halloween many people like to dress as a group, like characters from movies. Some people would like a small group of like 2-3 so you could dress up as a devil and an angel with your best friend or sister. Angie Meza Avalos, a student in the class of 2020, had decided to spend Halloween with her "BFF" as she told me.  “I'll dress up as a angel with my best friend, but she will be a devil”.

There still are some things to keep an eye out in Halloween. If you do go trick or treating some good advice as to what you should have are at least one flashlight, a candy bag, and a guardian is always a good idea for safety if you are young. There are some dangers out in Halloween, and even if you go with an adults you need to check your candy for anything dangerous.  Don’t get me wrong, Halloween can be fun, you just need to make the best of it and be sure that safety comes first.

Von Miller is one of the best NFL linebackers and is on the Denver Broncos defense team. A linebacker stands on the football line and tries to tackle the person with the football. The Denver Broncos fans get excited when Von Miller makes a tackle.

So far in the football season Von Miller has made 10 tackles, 2 assist tackles, and 2 fumble recoveries. This sounds like the start to one of the best seasons for a linebacker so far! Ever since 1982 he has been ranked 3rd for the best linebacker.

Before the Broncos played the Cleveland Browns Shawn Leuhring, who is a Denver Bronco fan, said “I think that Von Miller is good. He has 2 fumble recoveries and 3 sacks. Also, I think he is the second best linebacker in the league. He is better than Demarcus Ware”(who is another linebacker for the Broncos). “I think he’ll sack the Browns running back since that is the next game and he is at the end of the line.” Shawn said. “I think if Von Miller keeps playing the way he is playing he might make the pro bowl, if not then he won’t.” Finally, he said “I think that he is the second best player behind Clay Matthews in fantasy football.” Fantasy football is an online type game where you draft your players from multiple teams to make your own team. Depending on how good the players are each week will determine how many points you get. Whoever has the most points by the end of the season wins money.

“I think Von Miller is okay since he has some sacks and fumbles.” said Alan Coss, which is another Bronco fan before the Browns played the Broncos. Next he said “He might sack the Browns quarterback since that is his job.”

Before the Broncos played the Packers Ms.Brandly, who is a huge Broncos fan, said “Von Miller has awesome defense and he is aggressive. He is totally going to sack Aaron Rodgers next since that is the next game.” she said. Mrs. Brandly thinks “he will definitely make the pro bowl since he has great leadership, great tackles, and he plays aggressive.” For more info on Von Miller go to denverbroncos.com

"One good thing about music is that when it hits you you feel no pain"- Bob Marley.
Music through the ages was a day to remember.  6th, 7th, and 8th graders have a dance each year. This dance in particular celebrate music from each generation.

We asked Miss, Mattivi how long it took her and student council to make plans and choices for the dance.  In reply she said, " It took us a little over 2 months to make a plan". Also she said that it took $203 to make this dance come to life. Student council made the decision of what was going to be sold to raise the money that was need to create the dance. Student council voted for the theme that was used at the dance, which was "Music Through the Ages".

"There are natural leaders, they did things quickly and showed ownership" replied Miss. Mattivi when we asked her if decorating was hard to do with the whole team of students. Miss. Mattivi said, the students behavior was fabulous and she would rate the students behavior a 10. Also she said she never worried about behavior.

We asked her some simple questions about her musical identity. We asked her how it felt to be DJ Gummy-bear and she answered, " I always joke that I feel like Kanye West here at Bella Romero.   My favorite thing about being DJ is getting to wear the hat", which is a snap-back hat with a gummy bear on the front.  Some steps Miss. Mattivi took to prepare herself for DJ Gummy-bear is, one she dresses the part.  She gets in the mindset by dancing in front of her bathroom mirror and she also tells everyone to call her by her stage name throughout the day.

As you can see, a lot of work went into making this memorable dance of 2015.

Let's Dance Like It's 1999!
By Estefania, Cheyenna, and Nathan, Classes of 2020 and 2019

The K-3 campus of Bella Romero has a lot going on right now. One of their best projects is their mural. The school has decided to paint a mural in one of their hallways to remind students that no matter what Bella's family is their family. We talked to the K-3 art teacher to ask him about this project.

A mural is a piece of art applied on a wall. Murals date from around Upper Paleolithic times. Many famous artists have made many murals. Among the famous artists are Diego Rivera, David Siqueiros, and Jose Orozco. Murals have become a very good way to express yourself.

"The idea came from Mr.U who thought it would be a good idea to have a mural." Mr. Archibald only had a group of kids that did the mural. Like the leadership team only got to do the mural so it was really cool that those kids got to do the mural. "It's just a reminder that no matter what the students go through at home, this is their home." Mr Archibald says.

The students on the leadership team were really excited about this too. "It's fun because we get to paint the mural." Brenda from the class of 2024 said. The leadership team is the team in charge of painting. The leadership team is a team of students chosen by teachers.

This mural is going to take a few years to complete. Every part is going to be done by a different kid and a different color.

Families. We all have them! Did you know that instruments belong to families, too? Well, there are many families in the music world, including the string family, the percussion family, the woodwind family, and the brass family.  The class of 2021 has been working hard to learn to play the brass and woodwind instruments so they can travel and perform for others/  They want to show how hard they have worked and how great and fun music can be!

Three popular members of the brass family are the trombone, trumpet, and the french horn.  The three most popular instruments from the woodwind family are the clarinet, saxophone, and the flute.  Miss Dodson, the music teacher at Bella Romero Academy 4-8 campus, has done a great job with her students and has helped them create a successful Brass/Woodwind Traveling Band!

Mrs. Dodson said that she loves being a teacher at Bella Romero. She also says that her students are smart and talented. She also feels very lucky to make music with Bella Romero's family.  Making music can be difficult sometimes and you need to stay motivated to improve!  She said that all instruments are hard to play if you don't realize that all songs have patterns.

We heard teachers talking about how good they were so we went to see them ourselves to hear them play before the interview. They were awesome! The song the band played for us was Hot Cross Buns, one the many songs they practice to perform. Their teamwork was the interesting thing about the students.  They really had to work hard to perform together!

They started their traveling at 2:00 on the 18th of February thru the 25th of February. Mrs. Dodson says that music is a tradition and she wanted to preserve that tradition. So she wants all younger people to learn to play music because she believes it makes there life's better.  Music is a tradition at Bella Romero Academy and always will be.

Tri star is a really fun basketball competition that gives you an opportunity to compete against other students to go compete and the Pepsi center.

The point for this competition is to just have fun and ball up!! This year many students competed and only a few made it to the Z competition. The third one will be held at the Pepsi center competeing. If you make it,you get to tour around the Pepsi center and you also get 50% of a ticket for the Denver Nuggets game.

The stations were easy. All you had to do was shoot 4 free throws, dribble the ball around some cones as fast as they can. The third one was when you have to pass the ball but instead of passing it to a person you have to hit a target.

In conclusion Tri-Star is a really enjoyable competition people can try for fun. Tri-star is only a once in a year life-time!! Therefore tri-star is really fun, you should try yourself.
The newest technology in the school
In Bella Romero, we have lots of new technology. For example, the new 3D printer and the virtual reality goggles. This new technology has made many sorts of stuff thanks to the robotics printing team. Like robot toys, phone cases, and dog tags. "The 3D printer is sick!" Says Aron Vega. The 3D printer that they use is Makerbot.

They also build robots In the class. They build robots with Lego mindstorm and vex robot maker. And with the virtual reality goggles they can turn specific apps into 3D! The 3D printer even printed virtual reality goggles. The robots they made are unique because the are able to bend their joints and they had even made a monkey! The company Makerbot has made custom home 3D printer. Makerbot has made four different 3D printers. The link is http://www.makerbot.com.

As you can see, robotics is a interesting class. In the class, we have learned that they make robots, virtual reality, and things made with the 3D printer. As you can see the 3D printer is amazing technology. So therefore this were some of the new technology we have in our school.

Prints made by the 3D printer team can be found in our East Memorial Learning Lab at the 4-8 Campus.

"In The Lonely Hour" Review
"Deep down I know this never works, but let's play until we get hurt". Sam smith has wrote the most inspiring songs/album for heartache and his latest album, "In the Lonely Hour", just topped the single "Stay with Me.".
"Sam Smith's album has inspired young audience who may be bisexual, homosexual, heterosexual, and asexual , to be themselves and don't let people judge them" say's Miss, Mallory Mattivi. We sat down and had a few minutes to ask Miss Mallory Mattivi about Sam Smith's album. "I actually think that Sam Smith has an amazing talent for as young as he is, and then gaining each fan each day.". "In the Lonely Hour" has just became real " says Miss Mallory Mattivi. As an opinion of Miss Mattivi it may matter to whoever. But as a person Miss Mattivi has done a outstanding job explaining "In the Lonely Hour".
"Lay me down" has so much passion and emotion in how he sang the song" says Miss Angelina Romero. "I believe that Sam Smith is the best singer on the radio". We also had time to sit down and ask Miss Romero's opinion about "The Lonely Hour". "Omg I love Sam Smith, and his album is so amazing!". Miss Romero is an excellent teacher here at Bella Romero of applied technology, who's opinion is beautiful.
"Stay with me" is such an emotional song with such beautiful voice" says Miss Guilbert. "The entire album has a raw and emotional song which is such a great thing for how young he is". There is so many new trends going on at Bella Romero that people don't even know about. The guys and girls are now dressing in a whole new style, very different from the 90's.

Some new trends girls are wearing today are mostly high-waisted pants/shorts with crop tops. We wanted to know what fashion trends were popular all over the school, not just in middle school, so we found Ms. Aragon. "For girls it would be leggings and high-waisted pants /shorts," said Ms. Aragon.  "From my point of view girls that wear short and tight clothes don't look good and should wear clothes that fit them right not to big or to tight but just right." On some Family Values Fridays we see tight clothes, but we also see a lot of long, flowing shirts, too!
the Final COUNTDOWN, SUPER BOWL XLIX: THE CLOSEST GAME

By: Maktar Yarrow, Dominic Plasencia, and Raul Nevarez, and Nathan Escobar

Did you know that every player person from the winning team on the super bowl each gets 189,000? The Super Bowl is a yearly football game that takes the best two teams and puts them head to head. In this
Left shark became viral after the game year in NFL 2015 the New England Patriots are going head to head with the Seattle Seahawks. Their has been thoughts how the New England Patriots are cheating by deflating the ball. But this year all those
Tom Brady MVP thoughts have been disproved by Bill Nye the science guy. This kind of news has been going around the NFL for a long time.
This years Super Bowl is XLIX, also known as 49. " I think this Super Bowl will be a pretty good game," says Mr. Banas, the P.E. Coach. This Super Bowl game is New England Patriots vs Seattle Seahawks at Seattle on February 1, on a Sunday.
The patriots won the Super Bowl in 2001, 2003, and 2004 and this year not including 2015. While the Seahawks won only in 2013. "The patriots are gonna win!" Says, a 7th grade student and it looks like he was right. As you can see, football is a big part of the year. This year as you may already seen the game on last Sunday the patriots won the super bowl. In the game the first quarter the patriots were winning by 7 points. But the Seahawks caught up quickly in the second quarter with both teams at 14. The fourth quarter is where the real action happened when the Seahawks were 1 yard away from the touchdown zone, and the rookie from the patriots made a interception! To top that off a big fight started between Bruce Irvin. After that Tom Brady took a knee and after that it the patriots won 28-24. The Super Bowl is the most watched this year. This Super Bowl will be remembered for years!!!

Who knows why kids do anything? When it comes to cyber bullying, they are often motivated by anger, revenge or frustration. Sometimes they do it for entertainment or because they are bored and have too much time on their hands and too many tech toys available to them. Many do it for laughs or to get a reaction. Some do it by accident, and either send a message to the wrong recipient or didn't think before they did something. The Power-hungry do it to torment others and for their ego. Revenge of the nerd may start out defending themselves from traditional bullying only to find that they enjoy being the tough guy or gal. Mean girls do it to help bolster or remind people of their own social standing. And some think they are righting wrong and standing up for others.

81% of young people think bullying online is easier to get away with than bullying in person. Tell your kids that as a responsible parent you may review their online communications if you think there is a reason of concern. Encourage your kids to tell you immediately if they or some one is getting cyber bullied. Some parents ask for there password to there social media apps just to be safe.
Tell your kids that as a responsible parent you may review their online communications if you think there is reason for concern. Installing parental control filtering software or monitoring programs are one option for monitoring your child’s online behavior, but do not rely solely on these tools.

Have a sense of what they do online and in texts. Learn about the sites they like. Try out the devices they use.Ask for their passwords, but tell them you’ll only use them in case of emergency.    Ask to “friend” or “follow” your kids on social media sites or ask another trusted adult to do so.

Encourage your kids or your friends to tell you immediately if they, or someone they know, is being cyber-bullied. Explain that you will not take away their computers or cell phones if they confide in you about a problem they are having.

Examples of cyber-bullying include mean text messages or emails, rumors sent by email or posted on social networking sites, and embarrassing pictures, videos, websites, or fake profiles.

Romero is on a roll! 8th grade basketball girls team has been working as a team to fight in basketball battles with other teams in the district. The more they sweat in practice the less they bleed in battles. Basketball is not easy but it is worth it. Bella Romero girls know that winners never quit and quitters never wins. These girls don't give up.

The more they're motivated, the harder they play. They learned that the more they play as a team the bigger the chance they have in winning. This is a hard lesson to learn sometimes, but these girls work together and communicate as a team, which helps them win.  But the wolves are not about winning, they are about team work and success. They have faced Brentwood, Heath, John Evans, Winograd, and Franklin and they have played their hardest and they still are not giving up.

Varsity has won 3 games and junior varsity has won 6 games. Bella Romero Academy and Heath Middle School was a really intense game.  The crowd was pumped, the students were cheering and the players were energized! One of the players, Fernanda Payan, made the last two-point shot, which led to the win.

Win or lose they maintain high self esteem and persistence. Bella Romero 8th grade basketball team is always industrious, working hard to get open during difficult plays.  They play really hard and even though they are exhausted, they keep it up and play hard.

Bella Romeo games are $1.00 for students and $2.00 for adults and $5.00 for the whole family. Bella Romero would really love to see you there this Saturday at 11 at Greeley West for JV's next playoff game!  They'll bring the ball and Bella will bring the game!
Girls on Fire!
New Fashion Trends
Also some new trends that guys are wearing today are skinny jeans, shorts, bro tops (like a tank top for guys) and snap backs. Raul, a very fashion-forward student in the class of 2020, told us that "what guys wear mostly is bro tops, skinny jeans/shorts with vans or Jordan's."  Before, girls used to be the only ones wearing skinny jeans, but now they're also popular with boys, but they wear them with different accessories.

As you can see boys and girls have different styles and have different opinions on what to wear. There's one thing we can all agree on: Everyone at Bella Romero is looking really stylish!

There are a lot of teachers at Bella Romero. They do their job and help students and really care about the students. Miss Putters is an example of a great teacher at Bella Romero, a teacher who wants to help students graduate high school.

Miss putters is a funny, creative 4th grade teacher that helps her students understand what they are learning about. She loves Harry Potter and her favorite color is purple and she loves baseball. She loves her job and when she was in high school there were some teachers that inspired her to be a Teacher. She lived in Georgia before living in Colorado.. Her favorite subject was math because she liked working with numbers.  Her favorite season is winter because she likes layering her clothes. She is a great teacher.

Miss putters is a fun teacher and she is ready for the future. Bella has helped their students by having technology in there school. Miss Putters really helps out with her students' education. She is interested in teaching her students the best. Her favorite part of the school day is in the morning, were they get to learn math and literacy so they work really work hard
.
Miss putters is an amazing teacher she loves learning new things and when they called her she said that she was so excited to work here and be part of Bella's family. Bella's family loves Miss Putters and wants her to keep on working here.  She loves reading and she graduated in 2010 from the University of West Georgia. She loves working with every one. Miss putters is one of the great teachers at Bella Romero.

As you can see miss putters is a great example and there are great teachers that set a good example for all the students in Bella Romero. She teaches her students to work hard and follow the rules and last but not least to graduate night school.

Robotics is the branch of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science that deals with the design, construction, and operation of robots. In other words, it is a way to build robots that can act like a actual living thing.

Robotics are a fun way for students to experience team work and work through difficult situations with each other. In robotics at Bella Romero we battle the robots that the teams personally build and program. Then the teachers bring  some type of treat and the robots battle for the treats.  It's a fun day full of activities.

Miss Vojik, a 7th grade teacher, invented robotics here at Bella Romero. It all started four years ago in the after school program. Mr. Cooney asked her to create a class about building robots. Not a lot of schools in the district have this class. Robotics gives students a chance to express their creativity by building robots. That is what makes them enjoy the class. About 50% of 7th and 8th graders chose robotics as their elective this year.

The battle is the most exciting part of robotics. There are rules that each robot has to follow, like each robot has to have 3 motors and be 12 inches tall. To win a battle, one robot has to make another robot to where it can't function anymore. So for example if one robot can't move at all and the other robot is still fighting, the fighting robot wins. The first few weeks of the semester all they do is build and battle. The the last few weeks there will be the biggest battle. There will be an obstacle that each robot has to go through while battling other robots.

So, it's pretty cool to have the students acting and learning like real engineers. After the battles they talk about what they learned through the whole semester. Most of the students dreams went toward becoming an engineer ever since that class became a part of Bella Romero.

The class of 2025 is putting on a food drive at our K-3 Campus.  Mrs. Gale, a teacher at the k-3 campus gave us some details about their work so far.

"The food drive is going on from November 3,2014- November 25,2014"  Students come to school with some canned food items like peas, carrots, potatoes, and green beans. The class of 2025 collects these wonderful donations of canned food items.  Donating to the food drive is a very generous thing to do.

"The food would be donated to the Weld County Food Bank," said Mrs. Gale. I think it would be a splendid idea to give the food to the Weld County Food Bank(WCFB). Canned food was taken to Mrs. Hegg, a 2025 teacher from the K-3 campus, and she is delivering it to the Weld County Food Bank.

It is going to be a spectacular food drive if every student brings caned food and the class of 2025 is having a competition to see which class can get the most canned food items in to their teachers.  Think about how much fun the food drive can be while we do something nice for other people in Greeley at the same time.  It is always nice to help others, especially around the holidays!
Class of 2025 Makes a Difference!

We have a lot of superstar teachers here at Bella Romero Academy. This month we would like to recognize Mrs. Hegg, a 2025 teacher, for this month's teacher spotlight.

She graduated in 2008 and has gone to 2 colleges, CSU and The University of Colorado. Her favorite hobbies to do are anything that involves being outside.  Her favorite foods are sweet potatoes and candy. She was born in a small town in New Mexico, but she was raised in Crested Butte, Colorado.

Teaching preschool and being with kids has inspired her to become a teacher. Mrs. Hegg's favorite subject she teaches is science, She likes this because they get to do experiments and projects. Her favorite memory is when she got married and Ms. Mattivi was her reverend.

Mrs. Hegg's mom is her personal hero because she sacrificed things for her when she was little.  She likes Bella Romero because she feels like she has another family here and she loves all the kids and how they know what year they are going to graduate.

Mrs. Hegg is an awesome teacher. These second grade students are lucky to have teacher like this. There are a lot of other teachers out here at Bella Romero that are awesome too!

Taylor Swift's new album has surprised everyone. The former country singer has gone full pop with this album. She has released two music videos for her album so far. The former country singer's album has peaked to number one in many charts.

1989 pulled in 12 million dollars on its first week on the market. The album was released on Oct. 27, 2014. The album was named after the year T-Swift was born. The star spent much time promoting this album and the hard work payed off. Taylor even invited some fans to her house to listen to the album before everyone else.

1989 has had its second week at number 1 since its release. "I think it's fantastic. It's one of those albums you can put on and play the whole thing," says Miss Mattivi, 7th grade Language Arts and World History teacher.  While most people are judging how most of her songs are about either an ex or an enemy, other people agree with Miss Mattivi. The album has had many positive responses but now and then there are a few hate comments.  "I make everyone who drives with me listen to the album." Miss Mattivi said. We're pretty sure some die hard Swifties do this also.

One of her best songs has to be Blank Space. This song has some influence from Lorde, since the beats sound the same. You can't blame her, though, Lorde is one of her best friends. "Bad blood" is directed towards Katy Perry since they've had a few small arguments as Katy stole Swift's dancers before her last tour. That proves there is some bad blood between them.  While Katy hasn't replied, her ex Harry Styles (aka the guy half the songs are written about) has replied. Styles was asked "This Taylor Swift set mate, she's written some songs about you - it seems like. Does that feel odd when people write songs about you, or, are you okay with that?" Harry replied" We write from personal experience, and I think everyone does, so it would be hypocritical of us to be like, 'Oh you can’t write about us,' And she's really good, so they’re good songs, " adding, "I’m really lucky in that sense."

All in all I believe this has been her best album ever. With its success so far, I'm sure she'll sell many more. This album will be in the #1 charts for a very long time. Congrats to Taylor for making a best selling album.

At Bella Romero all students are stars that shine brightly but some students show that they are really living the Family Values.

We talked to student spotlight Jocelyn P. in the class of 2022 at Bella Romero campus to ask her questions. We asked her what characteristics that she thinks a Student Spotlight should have. She said,"They should own their behavior," and we agree.  Also we asked her 5th grade teacher Ms. Hendrickson how she is a good student she answered, "Jocelyn works hard and she never misses a day of school. Therefore she a good model of a Student Spotlight."

We also asked Jocelyn if she had inspiration to be a good student she said that her mom really inspires her by telling her that she is doing a good job in school. Also she motivates her classmates by telling them that they are smart enough and that they can do it. She is trying to be a good leader doing her very best in school.

Some students are easily distracted, Jocelyn's solution to not get distracted easily is to ignore the person distracting her. Ms. Hendrickson says,"She ignores distraction."  Jocelyn uses knowledge that she has learned throughout the years and the knowledge she is learning to advance in school.

As you can see, Jocelyn really does live the Family Values.

The first day that Ebola came to the U.S it was chaotic. It had people running to buy gloves and masks so they didn't get infected. The Ebola outbreak lasted for about a month in the U.S. The last person was cured about a week ago. And the nurse was cured about 3 weeks ago. The biggest controversy is about a girl in the us that went out of her restriction to live a normal life.

A doctor that was a big deal in New York was released from the hospital because he was cured from Ebola. In the article it says that the doctor (Dr.Craig Spenser) was released as he gave cheers and hugs.  The doctor got the deadly disease from helping Ebola patients in West Africa.

The second most recent case was the one nurse infected. The nurse's name was Amber Joy Vinson.  The nurse was infected when treating a patient with Ebola. She was in Texas when she was officially diagnosed with the disease. She was held at Emory, University Hospital for a maximum of 2 weeks and 2 days and was finally cured.

Imagine not having a disease but being quarantined anyway. Well an official citizen of Texas had talked to an Ebola patient so the National Health Organization tested her for Ebola. She came back negative. The NHO still thought she had it so she was quarantined to her house. She thought that since she didn't have the disease that she could leave her quarantine. Still to this day people are debating if she should have been quarantined to another place.

"Party!" As Ebola leaves the U.S people are smiling with joy. Until just recently one person was diagnosed with this sickness. I believe that U.S has this case under control.

There are many videos and pictures that go viral every day.  Did you ever see the meme Grumpy Cat or the video "What Does the Fox Say"?  This Video was so popular that everyone on the internet had heard of it in just a few days.  Have you ever wanted to be a internet sensation? Have you ever wondered how to become a internet sensation?  Lets find out!

Many people watch videos or look a pictures of internet sensations and wonder how they could also become an internet sensation. To become a internet sensation you have to be what the people want. The people want things that are funny, show talent, an interesting story, and even baby animals. These are some of the thing that people like to watch. If you post a video or a picture of one of these things and it catches on, it could be big.  People have to share the video or the picture in order to get you one step closer to becoming a internet sensation because then more people can see it.

There are many popular sites where a post can gain popularity.  For example, people might post to Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Vine, or YouTube.  If you're lucky, your video will spread all over. Most sensations start on one of those sites. These sites have so many people on them that word gets around fast.

It is crazy how it seems like everyone has heard of "A Potato Flew Around My Room" or "Old Gregg".  Sometimes it is hard to explain why, but that's what being an internet sensation is all about.

The holiday Thanksgiving, also called Turkey Day, is right around the corner. There is more than just the turkey to be thankful for. There is a whole history, which all started in the late 1800s.

Thanksgiving is a time for family to call everyone in the family for a reunion. Thanksgiving is also a time where family eats all day and has a great time together.  Families also like to watch Thursday night football and eat pie, turkey, and more.  There are many traditions that different families have during this holiday.

Thanksgiving was first celebrated as a feast after a harsh winter. It was first just a big meal to celebrate the harvest in the early 1800's and after that they kept doing it and it always stuck like a holiday.  When president Abraham Lincoln was elected president he made it a national holiday in 1863.

Thanksgiving back then there were no stores so they had to hunt or they had to raise the animals themselves. It was very hard and they didn't always have a turkey to eat. Currently there are stores to get turkey and stoves to cook so it makes life easier.

Thanksgiving is a great way to get the family together. No matter what your traditions are this Thanksgiving, we hope it is a happy one!

What exactly is blended learning? Blended learning is teaching with technology in the classroom. Blended learning is a class where you will go at your own pace and own level. With
Technology in the classroom students are so much more organized and really focused on their tasks.

What's new about blended learning? Well what's new about blended learning is you get more online resources like websites and social networks. More iPads allow students to find answers to their questions quickly in class.  You can also contact a teacher on an app called Schoology at home if you have any questions.

Is blended learning important to have in the classroom? "It's great to have blended learning in the classroom because students learn a lot faster even at their own pace," says Miss. Michas, a 2025 teacher who does a lot of blended learning in her classroom.  In my opinion I think blended learning is important to have in the classroom because kids will be more focused and have more resources. Blended learning is important to have in class because it's important to have these resources available to students so they can take control of their own learning.

What are some components of blended learning? Mrs. Pettyjohn, a 2026 teacher, says there is, "working on computers, they have individual math stations, they solve messy problems together, they also work with me on new skills. My P.o.v of the components in blended learning include Khan Academy which is a recourse for video practice. There are also books and the Internet for articles.

We use blended learning in the classroom at Bella Romero in many different ways. Blended learning is a way new way of learning which is really helping students in their academic work.

"Lights, camera, action!" In Bella Romero's drama class they do more than act. There are also directors and camera men, and a lot of the magic happens behind the camera, too.

For an actor they must do their job in front of the camera. They have to act out in scenarios. Why actors are so important is because the have to do acting in front of a camera. "Sometimes I get nervous in front of the camera but mostly I just laugh when we're doing something funny." Says Gonzalo, an actor in drama class. He also says that the class is very entertaining in many ways.

A director needs to supervise the actors and tell them what they are supposed to do. They plan out the videos but there's a lot more to that. Why they are important is because they plan out everything."It's really frustrating when the actors don't want to do what you say." Says Alan Canales, a director.

And last but not least, the cameraman. They are the people behind the camera. There's a good chance that they are the most important ones. A cameraman is so important because they record everything the actors do."A cameraman has to take videos and pictures, and mostly just records everything." Says Maktar, a cameraman.

Drama is a very interesting class. Each person has a specific job to do. But in the end everyone has fun in this class and learns to express themselves in a fun, creative way.

In our first edition of the Romero Times we will be using Nathan Escobar's art piece. I interviewed Ms. Dechant and she said that Nathan is very creative so I decided to interview him. The first thing I asked was what inspired you he answered '' What inspired me, well, I really love the sea world and all its creatures," said Nathan.

This art piece that Nathan made is called 1 point perspective name drawing. This type of art is suppose to look 3-D and as you can see Nathan did a great job. What makes Nathan such a good artist? Because when I was small my big brother was good at art so I learned to draw good to and I've practice for a long time to.''

I personally was with Nathan when he was very focused on this work. He just thought of a sea creature and drew it. He worked for about a week on it but it was all worth it. I asked Nathan how it feels to have his art work in our first published article he answered '' Honored because out of all the many kids in the school I was picked to show my drawing in the published article.''

I asked Ms. Dechant, chose Nathan's work because he is very creative. But he was not the only creative student!  There were many others but I thought Nathan's art work was very interesting. Nathan's was not only interesting but also unique.  There are many great art pieces but not like Nathan's. As you could see, Nathan is very creative and unique from others. But don't forget about Ms.Dechant, she's the one who also helped Nathan.

It's amazing! The 2019 A team has had a great season!  After a few practices and learning a few tricks they are on a roll. Coach Xavier help them learn that basketball is their passion and their dream. They can't fool around if they want it to happen.  They have been working really hard and giving it their all. Not one day do they sit around and do nothing, but they run until their legs go numb.

The wolves have been getting into shape really fast with all their hard work! Great job basketball players! Everyday they come to practice prepared and exited to show their skills. Mr. Banas and Coach Xavier are very proud because this season the players try their very best and never say no to basketball.

The boys might show that they're tired but they never give up! The boys never walk out or quit when it gets hard, they play harder. The A and B teams always have a positive attitude and always walk out with a smile because they know that they tried their hardest. They always have a look on their face that says " I'm ready, let's do this!"

The players always work as a team because the more you sweat in practice the less you bleed in battles. The A team is on a roll this season with 8 wins and only 1 loss this season in a very close game! Coach Xavier says that he is very proud of the team because they practice for 1 hour and 45 minuets of good hard work.

The A team, which is Austin, Isaiah, Deandre, Daniel, Lorenzo, Angel, Manuel, and Devin, has worked so hard to become the best team in Greeley and represent Bella Romero well. Coach Xavier has his own hard work out which includes a lot of running, and basketball, where they practice passing, and lay-ups. The most active and sporty one in A team is Austin because basketball is his #1 priority and he always has a good attitude because nobody messes with basketball.

If A team isn't hurting, they are not playing hard enough. One player who coach Xavier gives props to is Daniel because even if he's not in a good mood, he still plays hard and with a lot of effort. Both Daniel and Deandre are great leaders on and off the court this season.  Once again the A team is dominating the competition.

Bella Romero has a wonderful team because they are great athletes that work hard. At Bella Romero many of the people on the A team play ball every day and practice their skills. Great job Romero, keep it up!
