Beavis and Butthead as al-Qaeda (1994)

1994 article of Vice Magazine,  where Beavis and Butthead are shown as Al Qaeda about to fly planes into the towers. You have to admit this is sort of creepy. Illustration is by Johnny Ryan.

Poverty In America

Posted | Views: 637

Sometimes, war is a necessary means to end. When vulnerable
people are being oppressed, it is the job of the powerful to defend them with
all the might and resources that is available. The intent of the war is to
stamp out anything that inflict pain on others. The United States has always
been willing to step up to the plate. But what if the required war is on
poverty?, will the U.S. fight this war as it has previous ones?

Today, on just about every news outlet, politicians make noise
about the national debt. Their concern is that the U.S. is spending too much
money that they don't have. I suppose that American's should applaud their
honorable efforts. According to Babylon.com, the
national debt is a bit over 13.6 trillion dollars and growing. But here is a
bit of other relative news, according to costofwar.com, the two wars in Afghanistan and
Iraq adds 1.6 trillion dollars to the debt.

War proponents continue to say the war is a necessary means to an
end. They also believe that the wars should continually be funded to support
the commitment that the U.S. made with the two embattle countries. Meanwhile
the citizens of the United States is bracing themselves for the eventual cuts
in funding to domestic programs, as the new conservative movement moves into
the House and Senate.

Attention, politicians and American citizens, Poverty should be
the new war. According to, FeedingAmerica.org, in
2008, 4.8 million citizens used food assistant programs, that works out to 4.1%
of the U.S. Citizenry.  Similarly to the claims that international
war-proponents make, inaction on poverty causes death as well; little or no
health care causes serious decisions to be made, often leading to death;
malnutrition resulting in ill health and depressed and frustrated communities
increases the statistics of victims of violent crime. The depression of 2008
has pushed unlikely Americans in to the poverty class. Some of the new
impoverish have never saw their incomes grow be low a middle class income, they
now themselves asking the government for help to feed their kids or buy
medicine.

A slew of ultra-conservative elected officials are ready to slash
programs, make laws that further depressed communities. All this, to curtail
spending and slow down the deficit. If not, generations of Americans will have
the debt hanging around their neck many years after the death of the citizens
who created the debt. It is a noble and necessary cause.

Isn't equally important to feed, clothe and provide shelter,
for the present citizens?  The new lawmakers have a choice to make; do
they decrease social programs and continue to fund international ones? or
simply, cut both significantly.  Clearly, whatever is done, more people
will suffer if America drawback its money, support or manpower toward the wars.
That is, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, because the war against poverty has
hardly been started.

Blastphemy! - Superhero Statue Saints

Posted | Views: 19,905

Italian artist Igor Scalisi Palminteri from Palermo has always been fascinated by religiosity. For his series of sculptures titled Hagiographies, Palminteri transformed statues of saints, purchased in the street markets of Palermo, into superheroes by repainting the sacred works with bright acrylic paint, masking their faces and converting their traditional robes into capes and superhero garb bearing their recognizable symbols. Make of it what you will…

Indiana district 8

Wow my brothers in Indiana District 8 Suit up boys....Bucshon has got to go!!

My Friends-

I love baseball. The sights, the sounds, hot dogs, and “take me out to the ball game.
Each team has an equal chance of winning, with umpire’s determining what is
fair and what is not.

I wish politics had an umpire to call foul.

If you have not already heard, Congressman Bucshon is making a blatant attempt
to mislead Hoosier seniors about his record on Medicare. The Congressman
launched a Medicare Listening
Tour
across the Eighth District to "to discuss Medicare and find
opportunities to preserve and strengthen this vital, life-saving program."

But actions speak louder than words, and Congressman Bucshon's voting
record clearly shows that he wants to end the Medicare guarantee and have
seniors pay $6000 more a year. That is not strengthening Medicare as he would
like us to believe.

After voting twice to end the Medicare guarantee and require seniors to pay
over $6,000 more for health coverage while giving companies that ship our jobs
overseas more tax cuts, Congressman Bucshon has a lot of nerve to tell Hoosiers
that he wants to preserve and strengthen Medicare.

Congressman Bucshon's record clearly demonstrates that he isn't looking out for
Hoosier seniors or the middle-class. We must hold Congressman Bucshon
accountable.

Please stand with me to call foul on Congressman Bucshon's blatant attempt to
mislead voters.

Take a look at his challenger...I think you'll like him.

Romney the flip flopper.....

Posted | Views: 756

So Romney is going to be the Republican nominee.....What should we know about him?

We all know Mittens like to flip and flop more than a hooked steehead, however if you take a second and watch this video you will be blown away. How is it humanly possible that some folks think this guy is good for America? And if anyone in any union even considers voting for this man you seriously need to consider turning in your card because in my opinon you are not looking out for your own best interests!

What to do when Uni hands you an assignment?

Make a vanity page with your face plastered all over it! At least I can call it the many faces of ME, and blog something something about PostModernism and how this is representative of all the various facets of me, even though I look the same in pretty much all of them.

So for those of you who have not used openzine, or ownzee as it is now known, it's not bad. The editing format is real easy, once you get used to the fact that it's trying to appeal to people who can't get their heads around other editing software (*cough cough* Photoshop *cough cough*). It's essentially a drag, drop and click to edit system, with slidebars on all of the bozes to change the size of them.

One thing I would say against it is, I'm not seeing a use for collaboration here. I mean, it's great and all if one person is doing the work, maybe if a team shared the login details it could work, but I still say it's a one person program. Also, there's no rulers, so lining things up is a little trial-and-error. $7/month is a bit much unless you plan on using it every day.

The Course Report

Back after two weeks away caddying in Korea . Very enjoyable Sunday afternoon at SK Telecom Open with K J Choi and his caddy Andy Prodger...

Since being back, have had a few rounds at Niseko Golf Course and two at Niseko Village Golf Course. Conditions have been great but the greens have been a little slow.

Driving range and practice holes now open at Niseko Village...

Also had one round at Niseko Tokyu Golf Course with Makabe san and Toshi ( local golfing icons) and had a good (slow) Sunday. Mak drove to Sapporo directly to buy a new driver. he bought the Taylormade Burner - white of course....

I have been trying the same driver this week with a Fukikura Speeder shaft..Going good so far but still within the first two weeks...

The new BoomStick......

Apologies to all for the lack of scores and pics. Will get the camera out this week and get some good video onto the blog...

I've been thinking about writing an article or two about the PvP server for a while now, and after talking with the two head honchos Vertith and Vendetti, the dream is becoming a reality. I will be starting to do these as regular as I can, and with feedback from the Community I think this magazine can get pretty decent and please the majority of the players. It will be featuring the classic Richest Tycoons, but also will include small things like Raid of The Day or Week for that matter... Player of the Day, and many others which shall be included in the pages to come! So stick around, give it a read, tell a friend, and give me feedback to make this the best possible!!

Next Issue will Feature Runswithbees' Base!

Make sure to check it out!
