Halloween Fun Facts

The kids watch the opening of Thing From Another World, The (1951) on TV. Carpenter would later re-make this film himself in 1982 as Thing, The (1982).

Halloween was shot in 21 days in the spring of 1978. Made on a budget of $300,000, it became the highest-grossing independent movie ever made at that time.

According to screenwriter/producer Debra Hill, the character of Laurie Strode was named after John Carpenter's first girlfriend.

Inside Laurie's bedroom there is a poster of a painting by James Ensor (1860-1949). Ensor was a Belgian expressionist painter who used to portray human figures wearing grotesque masks.

Halloween takes place primarily in fictional Haddonfield, Illinois. Haddonfield, NJ is the home town of screenwriter Debra Hill.

The performance of Halloween's musical score is credited to "The Bowling Green Philharmonic." There is no Philharmonic in Bowling Green. The "orchestra" is actually John Carpenter and assorted musical friends.

HALLOCHEAP

Since the movie was actualy shot in spring, the crew had to buy paper leaves from a decorator and paint them in the desired autumn colors, then scatter them in the filming locations. To save money, after a scene was filmed, the leaves were collected and reused.

Due to its shoestring budget, the prop department had to use the cheapest mask that they could find in the costume store: a William Shatner mask, from the movie "The Devil's Rain." They later spray-painted the face white, teased out the hair, and reshaped the eyeholes

cool facts and it shows you don't need a big budget to make a horror classic.

Its very important to keep healthy and fit because it makes you feel good, look good, and most of important it prevents health risks. The reason you feel so good after you do exercise is because your body lets out a certain hormone called endorphins. So here are some health plans and some ways to stay healthy!

SMOOOTHIIEE!! Fruit smoothies are a great way to start your day with lots of vitmains and yummy fruit. The best thing about smoothies is that you can put anything in it. One of my favorite is berry smoothies.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup of frozen blackberries
  • 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup of plain fat-free yogurt
  • 1 scoop of vanilla whey
  • 2 ice cubes
  • 1 tbsp of honey
  • 1/4 cup of water

AND MIX!!!

OATS! Oats, depending how you eat them, have a medium to low GI (Glycemic Index) rating. This means that they release sugars into the bloodstream slower than other, usually more sugary, foods. The result is that you should feel fuller for longer and not snack so much. You can also add your favorite fruits and nuts!

SANDWICHH!! Having lunch is very important because is it "keeping you going" through the day. too heavy of a lunch leads to sluggishness and too light of a lunch leads to shaky hunger. a medium-sized, and BALANCED meal is important. A healthy sandwich includes multigrain bread (NOT WHITE), ham off the bone, lettuce, tomato and a homemade relish (so you know whats in it). Its also really good toasted!

LEMON & WATER!! Lemon mixed with water is great for anyone who has respiratory problems like asthma because of its rich source of vitamin C. A cup of warm water with lemon and a pinch of salt can help with weight loss and lower cholesterol. Adding lemon to your water will make it a bit more flavorsome. You can also add honey and mint which is good if you have a cold!

SNACKY!! Having a small snack between lunch and dinner will make you not eat as much for dinner and so you dont binge. Berrys and nuts are good healthy snack that you can eat when your on the go!

CHICKENN!! Chicken has a good source of vitamin B3, also known as niacin, is found in plentiful amounts in poultry and meat. It also had protein which is good for muscular tissue in your body, including skeletal muscle, heart tissue and smooth muscle found in the walls of your intestines. Also on the side of your dish you can add some steamed vegies which you can drizzle some honey on top to give it some flavor.

COCO!! Eating more dark chocolate can help lower blood pressure so EAT UP! Having a few squares a day can help you brain to stay strong.

STONEFIELD

STONEFIELD ARE ONE OF THE BIGGEST UP AND COMING PERFORMERS IN AUSTRALIA! They are four sisters from melbourne and they are... amy findlay (Lead vocals and drums), hannah findlay (guitar), sarah findlay (keyboards and vocals), Holly findlay (bass).  and I was lucky enough to get a interview with amy findlay!!!

We have heard you are doing the winter road trip with Brooke Addamo (Owl Eyes), how is that going?

Were currently doing 20 shows with Brooke we are doing it all around new zealand and australia. Its been a lot of fun and its for a good cause, which is with the line which is a government initiative and its all about promoting respect and

how to deal with relationships and all that kind of thing. It a really

good thing to be doing.

What made you want to take part and promote the line?
Yeah, well you get approached by a lot by different organizations wanting you to use your music to help get the messgae across by a specific cause. As much as we want to help everyone its really important to pick a few organizations that mean a lot to us.We also try and not to spread our selves too thin and try and do alot for the organizations that we do. So the line is something we can relate to and i think everyone can relate to someway or another. Especially being younger and going through school, friends, bullying, cyber bullying and relationships between students and teachers and families. It's just something that were a bit more
familiar with rather than world poverty where as passionate as we feel about it we don’t know much about it.
You guys have recently put out an EP bad reality do you feel have you guys developed since your last EP through the clover?
I think its quite a different EP from Through the Clover I guess mostly it was a lot more production that went in it and it wasn’t as raw as our first EP. Which made it very different because we're older and are exposed to different bands, and your songwriting just naturally develops. I’m actually looking forward to having more of an organic sound for our next recording. We're currently working on our debut album which will come out early next year which we write by ourselves.
