10 Downing Street and London Fashion week are two of the many best of British rarely associated with one and other. One a man's world where a white shirt, black tie and ill-fitted suit to match dominate the politically inspired House of Commons Catwalk, the other inspirationally erratic, ever changing and all powerful, an industry worth billions filled with some of the worlds most creative and iconic individuals.
Ironically the pair have more in common than initially identified outside of individual stereotyping. Both attempting to sell to the consumer, be it a political policy or 8" bondage inspired leather wedge, one looking to gain the vote the other a sale. Two cut throat, dog eat dog industries renowned for foul play and dirty dealings, every good designer like every good politician must practice what they preach, personal brand belief leads directly to outside brand recognition, a household name, a following. From Barack Obama to Balenciaga, from Prime Minister to Supermodel these people are hitting headlines for the good, the bad and the damn right ugly! All eyes are on those in front of the camera and behind the scenes, breathlessly waiting for that all important rise and fall of the up and coming and established.
Sarah Brown, known only to most as the woman behind that extraordinarily dull ex PM a few years back, was appointed Harrods newest non executive director today. The lady herself is responsible for the brands marketing and corporate social responsibility division and commented on her recent appointment saying, "I look forward to my return to business in joining the Harrods Group board and welcome the opportunity to work on the marketing and corporate social responsibility plans for this world-renowned British brand."
Two quintessentially British names forming a union through the corporate world, one an iconic department store the other an uncharacteristic, washed up housewife with a lot to prove? One thing's for sure knowing the difference between Dior and Dolce is no longer an essential when making it in the materialistically vain world of fashion, can any industry survive the commercial stereotype of the new age business woman?
Could be worse, they could have appointed her Senior Buyer!

Como lo leen, los dos policías que se grabaron bailando en el coche patrulla han sacado un disco: "conduciendo temerariamente", y lo mas alucinante es que ha superado las ventas en el mes de octubre. Con el dinero que recaudaron ayudarán a sus compañeros de la brigada antidisturbios para que refuercen su equipo de protector individual, ya que el gobierno con la crisis no tiene presupuesto para ello. Al parecer, entre los manifestantes que se presentan ante el congreso, entre ellos estudiantes, familias enteras en paro y desahuciadas, funcionarios, personas mayores, etc. que defienden sus derechos, como pedir que no saquen a sus familias de sus casas, que no se hagan más recortes, que no congelen los sueldos de los funcionarios..., son una gran amenaza para la seguridad ciudadana y por esta razón la policía necesita defenderse de los manifestantes antes mencionados, que atentan contra los intereses de España. De todas formas, como dice nuestro presidente Mariano Rajoy, solo se manifiestan unos cuantos, porque la "mayoría" de la población de España se queda en casa, como se puede observar en esta foto:

This mural will have color, mostly primary colors mixed. it will be bright and passionate.
THE CONCEPT:
The mural itself will have cubist elements in a contemporary manner with strokes of expressionism and pop/cartoon figures that will pull in art lovers and people of all ages to this wall and property. Kiki’s spontaneous style will give a sense of freedom and progression to the area. The work will be done much in the way Kiki creates his work, aggressive yet careful to detail and loading plenty of soul. The figures represent enegry much like of a ghost, distant memory or dream. The artist uses cartoon imagery to pull in the view to age old ideas of art and life.

Kiki Valdes (born April 3rd 1981 in Miami, FL.) is a Cuban American expressionist painter, based in New York. Valdes’ work explores the multidimensional complexities of people, religion, American-life, sex, and superstition. His canvases tend to overlap on top of various unresolved paintings and capture a sense of association, rhythm and conflict. Kiki often refers to his paintings as studies; instead of art history’s draw toward the female or still-life, Valdes explores the use of 1990’s cartoons with expressionistic tendencies. His appropriation of Disney/Nickelodeon characters is a starting point for him to redefine his understanding of the subject. The work can best be described as a marriage between abstract expressionism, cartoons and Caribbean folklore. Kiki Valdes is represented by the Michael Margulies Artist Agency.
