Major US Airlines' Profit Increase From 2013
European Union and Flight 17
The Malaysian Airline Flight 17 was headed from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, when a Ukrainian Rebel in Hrabove shot it down with a Russian-Made missile. The plane was hit and fell to the ground, killing 298 passengers and crew. There are 8 square miles where remains of the people who died in the crash could be, and Dutch and Australian search parties are thoroughly looking to find more remains. A little more than 200 people have been found, but about 80 people are left to find. The rebels and the Ukraine government were fighting while the search was originally supposed to be going on, but the sides called a cease-fire so that the search party could find more about the crash and the people inside. The Russian government has been fighting with the European Union about the withdrawal of the ban on Ukraine’s military equipment, which was made in early February. The Russians are mad because they had been supplying Ukraine with military devices and now have to compete with other countries in the European Union. Russia sold materials such as the missile that shot down Flight 17.
The most popular United States airline companies earned about $3.8 billion during the first half of 2014.  "This was a major improvement from this time in 2013, which earned $1.6 billion".
These airlines were also given the leg up by a 2.3% decline in jet fuel prices and a minor decline in maintenance fees and aircraft rents.  In addition, numerous intense weather events interruped air travel earlier this year, including many severe thunderstorms and the infamous polar vortex.
This year, the $3.8 billion was the total profit for the six-month period for these major passenger airlines; Alaska, Allegiant, American, Delta, HAwaiian, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, and United.  "The 5% net margin was an improvement of the 2.1% margin reported in the first half of 2013."
This group said that the nine airline companies spent $7 billion to buy and update aircraft and succeeded in reducing gross debt by $1.8 billion.
This group also imagined that Labor Day traveling would increase by at lead 2% over the 2013 holiday (measured over seven days).  Airlines for America expects 14 million travelers, compared to the 13.8 from 2013.  The group predicted the busiest day would be Friday, August 29, 2014.
Dump and Donate
ALS Ice Bucket Donations Reach $88.5 Million
As of Tuesday, August 26, the ALS donations have reached $88.5 million. The support donations are amazing, compared to the donations in 2013 at this time; they were only at $2.6 million.
Known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. There is no cure for this terrible disease and only one FDA certified drug has been developed to increase the survival time. On average, the paralysis or death will happen 2 to five years after diagnosis.
Ready to get wet? Posting a video of yourself being doused by a bucket of ice cold water is obviously the new thing to do. When you get nominated, you have 24 hours to accept the challenge of dumping water on your head or you can just make a donation. You can even do both! When you make your video, you then can nominate others to take the challenge. As it keeps on flowing, more money is being raised to support ALS.
“Under the leadership of our Board of Trustees, we are putting a decision-making process in place to address how this money will be spent. This is isn’t a matter of spending these dollars quickly, but it's a matter of investing these dollars prudently to achieve maximum impact in our quest to help people living with the disease and those yet to be diagnosed,” said Barbara Newhouse, President and CEO of The ALS Association. This money could be spent in many different ways, but whatever they decide to use it for will be helpful to putting an end to Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Their mission is to help families battling ALS all around the country, and to take part in a global research program focused on discovering treatments and even a cure to ALS.
Now its your turn to join in on this great project. If you have not yet accepted the challenge, Klevine News nominates you to get drenched or make a donation. You have 24 hours, good luck!

Five Must Visit London Attractions

Posted | Views: 393
Upon landing in London, prepare to be overwhelmed by all of it's unique and entertaining sights. But there are certain activities that are just absolute "Must See" when visiting England's capital city. So before you start booking flights to London, be sure to check out these popular activities which are representative of this truly iconic city.

The largest Ferris wheel in all of Europe is undoubtedly the quickest way to check out all of London's major attractions. The London Eye is the world’s largest observation wheel, standing at nearly 443 feet high. It provides a 30-minute, slow-moving "flight" over London and offers up a simply brilliant view of the city. You can even enjoy the sights with a glass of champagne in one of the private capsules.
One of the most famous images of England is without a doubt the Changing of the Guards. This hugely popular attraction draws dozens of tourists and locals alike, which stand patiently to witness this daily royal routine take place in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace. Briefly the procedure involves the new guard taking over duties from the old guard - however it is accompanied by lots of pomp, guard bands, military music and the ceremony of changing of the guard.
There might not be a more romantic way to sightsee the city of London than to take a guided tour along the River Thames. If the ride on this majestic river wasn't enough, the opportunity to see landmarks like the Houses of Parliament, London Eye, St. Paul's Cathedral, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Tate Modern, Greenwich Observatory and many more is an opportunity that one cannot miss while in this amazing city.
Britain's busiest high street and London's best known shopping area is full of the largest branches of the nation's most popular shops. The street is dotted with major department stores and numerous brand's flagship stores. The Oxford Street is every shopper's paradise and is a great place to max out your credit card on your next visit to London
The red phone box is a symbol of Britain. Although cell phones are now the main way in which we communicate while on the road, these sheltered red kiosks are still a great place for that perfect photo opp. Visitors who want to go a step further, and even bug their friends back home, might want to dial them up and exclaim "London Calling."

Toronto
Kooks road Trip Part 4
On August 4, The Kooks graced Toronto with a show for the first time since 2011 and I was lucky enough to be able to attend.
Being the dedicated fan I am, I arrived at Danforth Music Hall 9 hours early to ensure a front row spot. It was a quiet hour before the lead singer, Luke Pritchard, walked by.
He was nice enough to stop and take some  pictures with us before heading on his way
During the next few hours I started talking to one of the infamous Girls At The Rock Show, and Kooks concert expert, Teri about her concert experiences.
She instantly became my concert guide.
She saved me from waiting in torrential downpours, filled me in on what to expect during the concert, and told me where to stand at the stage for the best view. She even helped me get a picture with Hugh Harris (guitarist), as well as  another picture with Luke.
After fangirling over the fact that Luke remembered me from  that morning, the doors finally opened and I ran inside for my front row spot.
The opening band, Nightbox, was fantastic; probably the best I’ve seen. They did their job of warming up the crowd well.
By the time The Kooks came on stage, I was more than ready for the experience of a lifetime – and they delivered. With Junk of the Heart as the opening song, the crowd was instantly into it. My heart nearly melted when Luke pointed and winked at me during the chorus but not nearly as much a when he came over during Always Where I Need To Be and I got to hold his hand while he stood in front of me.
Luke did an amazing job of hitting every corner of the stage. When he didn’t have a guitar in his hands during songs such as Ooh La, he was pulling some moves I have definitely never seen before, which showed how much fun he was having. Luke wasn’t  afraid to come right up to the front of the stage and his interaction with the crowd kept everyone’s attention, as you never knew when he was going to be coming to sing to you. Unfortunately because of this I didn’t spend much time looking at the other band members, but from what I saw they left the dancing to Luke.

They had a solid mix of old and new songs, which I was extremely grateful for. Anyone who isn’t a huge fan of their new music just needs to watch Luke dance around to Forgive and Forget, and they’ll instantly love it when they see how much fun he has performing it. Luke did an excellent job of switching up the songs instead of playing  them exactly as they were recorded. Longer notes, extended pauses as well as guitar  solos, particularly during Do You Wanna, just added that much more to the  experience.
An honourable mention goes out to Luke for the solo performance of Seaside, which was probably the most incredible song of the night.
Starting the song without a mic, he came right up to the crowd and leaned over everyone. He got everyone singing  the song as he sang and strummed along on an acoustic guitar. I was covered in goosebumps during the whole song, as it’s absolutely enchanting to hear 1500 people  sing along with no background noise.
Unfortunately, the show had to come to an end. An extremely short encore of two  songs, featuring The Sofa Song and Naïve only left the crowd wanting more. There’s no doubt in my mind that this show was the best one I’ve been to – a title previously held by the Arctic Monkeys; sorry boys but The Kooks deserve this one. I’m now desperately awaiting their return to Toronto. But for now, I’ll pre-order their upcoming album, Listen, and sit in my new Kooks shirt watching my concert videos and  regretting any time not spent at a Kooks concert.

Jorge Luis Borges

¿Lo has sentido?
