The Marxian Nature of Canada's Progressive Media

Posted | Views: 632
As  a child of the 60's, we were raised to believe that the evil capitalists were the greatest threat to world peace. They were the profitters of human misery, and the main supporters of the industrial military complex. Evil doers in every way shape or form. While there is truth to some of this, as there's truth to many things, we had little insight that we were being groomed by intellectual powers who had an agenda a hideous agenda to destroy the west from within. The cultural Marxists required one highly important ingredient in order to fully augment their strategy in order to elicit communism - numerous useful idiots.

There clearly is a Marxian nature to progressive media and this theme will be developed shortly. But first a primer on cultural Marxism.

Changing Copywrite Laws
This is a small step which will go a small distance towards balancing the massive unfair, media bias which supports Trudeau while simultaneously slamming Harper. Within the past 24 hours CTV Don Martin referred to Harper as a fascist-the remark was quietly modified hours later. Heather Mallick wrote a school girl love letter about Trudeau and in it claimed Harper had sociopathic eyes. Rick Mercer painted, or had painted, a picture of Harper on a male prosthesis and on and on.

All of the above may prove humorous to liberals but even liberals know it's wrong. We know this from the massive liberal outcry when a right wing commentator referred to P.E. Trudeau as being promiscuous.

So how much information is the public getting? If they read Chopper Tom's friendly chat with Trudeau they would have learned what shampoo he uses. But would they learn about his CF 18 remark, his ignorance re article 5, his total abandonment of R2P. his belief that we need to rethink the basic elements of space and time, his narcissistic wound which shows up by walking out of debates, cold shouldering one who asks a question or continually avoiding humiliation in the House of Commons by rarely showing up for work?
If democracy is government for, by and of the people then lets give the people the entire score, educate them and let them determine the fate of all political parties and personalities.

2014 NBA Preview: The Indiana Pacers

Posted | Views: 1,092
#23 Indiana Pacers
These last six months haven’t been the best for the Indiana Pacers. After having the best record in the NBA at the all-star break, they proceeded to throw up all over themselves, looking like a shell of themselves during the second half of the NBA season. They eventually lasted six games in the Eastern Conference Finals before losing to the Heat, but that was in a lowly Eastern Conference in which they were almost bounced out of the first round against the Hawks. To make matters worse, their best player and perennial NBA all-star Paul George suffered a sickening injury competing in a Team USA scrimmage in August (see video). So instead of ranking them as a playoff team going into the 2014 season, I have them finishing near the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
Last season, George along with swingman Lance Stephenson took 35% of the Pacers' shots. Now that George is out because of injury, and Stephenson took his talents to Charlotte, the Pacers will have to find a way to produce on the offensive end on a nightly basis. The number one candidate for that role is 34 year old David West. Last year he was probably the most consistent player on the team, averaging 15 points and seven rebounds per game. He’s also known as the leader on this less than stable Pacers ball club. He will be relied on to be the team’s leading scorer and rebounder… a heavy load for a guy who is on the downhill slope of his career.
If the Pacers are lucky, they will get the old Roy Hibbert back this season. Halfway through the year it seemed as if Hibbert completely forgot how to play the game of basketball. The Georgetown product would have games where he literally wouldn’t score a point and not grab a rebound. Seems hard to do when you’re over 7 feet tall. There were rumors that his bad play resulted from off the court issues, but who will ever know. Last year he averaged nine points and five rebounds, which isn’t half of what he’s expected produce. The Pacers will need him to return to his all-star form if they have any chance of making noise this season.
George Hill is another player who struggled to get it going last year. This season will be his fourth to be a permanent starter since coming from the Spurs, and in his career he’s never averaged more than five assists. He will need to become a better distributer at the point guard position. Backing him up this year will be CJ Watson. Watson has shown his bright spots in the past, so it’ll be interesting if he can expand on the five points he averaged last year.
Since George is out for likely the season, the Pacers will need to find someone that will fill the position of small forward. That person will likely be CJ Miles, who’s been with the Cavaliers these last few seasons. Last season he averaged almost ten points per game in only twenty minutes of action a night. With an expanded role, I expect him to produce at a higher rate. The Pacers also acquired Rodney Stuckey in the offseason so if he can become a more consistent scorer he could find himself as a permanent starter.
Luis Scola and Chris Copeland will both be solid contributors off the bench. Last season was rough for both players, but if they can find a way to perform like they were expected to last season, then the Pacers bench will likely be improved. I just don’t see too much promise with this roster. Frank Vogel just signed a longterm extension, which relieves some pressure off him not having his best player healthy this season. He will have to coach his way out of a tough situation this year, and if he can do it don’t be surprised if he wins coach of the year.
Potential Starters
PG: George Hill
SG: Rodney Stuckey
SF: CJ Miles
PF: David West
C: Roy Hibbert

Top 10 Over-The-Counter meds for this fall

Find your way around the cold medication aisle... without getting lost

Uh oh, here comes fall. A smorgasbord of cold and flu symptoms, from fever and
sore throat to muscle aches and pains. Every year, millions of people use over-the-counter (OTC) products to relieve nasal stuffiness and congestion, sneezing, runny noses, sore throat, and cough. The common causes of these symptoms include the viruses that cause the common cold, influenza virus, allergic rhinitis (hay fever), and sinus infections (sinusitis). Viral infections can also cause headache, body aches, fatigue, and sometimes fever (Health). Next time you’re in need of a medication, try one of these products. There's no cure for the common cold, but that doesn't mean you can't get relief from one of these products.

Sudafed Nasal Decongestant
Works for: Stuffy nose
Temporarily relieves nasal and sinus congestion due to the common cold, hay fever, or other upper respiratory allergies. Sudafed and other meds with pseudoephedrine can be made into crystal meth, you have to show your driver's license or state ID to buy them (Health).
Sudafed Triple Action

Works for: Stuffy nose, chest congestion, sore throat, headache and body aches
Like Tylenol Sinus, this is good for a three-pronged attack: guaifenesin as an expectorant, pseudoephedrine to clear nasal congestion, and acetaminophen to ease sore throat and aches—all in the most effective doses (Prescription drugs use in America).

THE INSIDE SCOOP
Witty Wildcats
Story by: Madeline Quinn

It’s no secret that the price of going to college is horrifying. Most college graduates leave college with hundreds of thousands of dollars in debts and loans. Fortunately for Jarod Burks and Makayla Ogdahl, they have less of a debt to worry about. Thanks to California State University of San Bernardino, these two students have the opportunity to pay off some of their college expenses using a very generous scholarship of $25,000. Now, most people would say “yea, yea, that’s great for them. Now what’s the catch? What did they have to do to get it?” One of the few requirements of the Scholarship was to be in the top 1% of the graduating class. Due to their hard work and determination at school, they qualified for the scholarship. In fact, all they have to do to use the money is to apply and go to CSUSB.
Turns out, they didn't even have to apply for it. Makayla Ogdahl was simply hanging out in her room. “My mom brought the mail in and was like ‘here’s this letter’” she says. Makayla was very grateful for the scholarship opportunity and attended the acceptance ceremony on the 13th of September at the college. According to her, the experience was more like a tour of the campus and she had the opportunity to discover what the college offers for the major she is interested in which happens to be entrepreneurship/ business human resources management. While she was there, she got to talk to professors in the different fields of the business majors and was given more information to help her decide what she wants to do. Jarod Burks on the other hand was not able to attend due to wanting to spend some quality time with his family.
Whether or not they decide to accept the scholarship, it was still a good opportunity to learn more about the school and what they want to do when the time comes to go off to college. These students have brought a great amount of pride to the home of the Wildcats.

The Spirited Animals
Story By: Alexis Hidalgo

Waking up on Monday mornings for school is not the greatest thing in the world. Last week, however, was spirit week; the Wildcats were up and ready to show their spirit on ‘Merica Monday. The school was filled with red, white, and blue anywhere you looked. Tuesday was even more colorful, with everyone’s “just made last weekend” tie dye on display.
Whether you wore a t-shirt and jeans or dressed nicely for school, on Wednesday changing out of pajamas wasn’t even necessary because of pajama day. On Thursday we were able to become any character that we wanted, which showed our childish sides, because more people dressed as Peter Pan than any other character. Friday consisted of our favorite sports jerseys, whether it be basketball, football, or any other sport team.
On the last spirit day of the week, the freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors gathered in the gym for the fall sports assembly. To kick it off, the 29 High band members played and swayed to popular songs such as Wake Me Up and I Knew You Were Trouble for the school to enjoy.
Two of the teams that put on a show for the Wildcats were the Lady Cats Volleyball team and the Cross Country team. The volleyball players dove into their performance and danced to a multitude of songs in their own little huddle, while each player got the chance to dance in the middle. The Cross Country team started out dancing, then they amazed the school by doing flips and reverse sit ups on each others arms. They even got on each others shoulders to walk around and pump up the crowd while doing their own Cross Country rap. TPHS definitely could not have expected that the kids who wear short shorts and go on long runs would do that. The Wildcats’ spirit definitely showed throughout the week and at the assembly.

Clean for Green
Story by: Courtney Stanford

New uniforms and expensive tournaments do not just pay for themselves. It takes hard work and dedication to raise the money that the volleyball team needs to look good and gain experience. The girls received eight hundred dollars on Saturday, the 27th of September, when they picked up mountains of debris behind the Jelly Donut. The girls spent two hours from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. picking up piles of trash, and moving giant branches and huge tumbleweeds that were cluttering the lot.The team celebrated their hard work at the end of the grueling two hours by feasting on some delicious donuts.
However, the eight hundred dollars that was earned was not the only prize that was won. Cleaning up the trash helped the girls bond together, and it also helped them learn how to work as a team. They not only got green cash, but green minds. It was a lot of strenuous work, but it paid off well in the end.

Why Blaze Orange

Why Blaze Orange?
What is with the people in the trees wearing blaze orange while deer hunting with a firearm? Blaze orange has saved hundreds of lives because it is more apparent in the woods than other colors, like brown, blue, green, and pink. Blaze orange is very bright and can be spotted from a distance, whereas colors like green and brown blend in with a hunters surrounding, making it harder for others to see them. Hunters are not mistaken for an animal while wearing blaze orange because no animal is blaze orange, and it does not blend in with a hunters surroundings.
In fact, there was a law enacted in Minnesota for hunters to wear blaze orange during the firearms deer season. It was enacted because there were many deaths due to hunters mistaking others as an animal, or the person shot was not visible from a distance. “In 1986, the law required blaze orange or red be worn during the firearms deer season. Beginning in 1994, red was dropped and only blaze-orange clothing was legal during the firearms deer season. The law requires “the visible portion of the person’s cap and outer clothing above the waist, excluding sleeves and gloves, is blaze orange”’ (Smith). Some hunters get so excited; they shoot before they look to see what their target is, and what may be behind it. There are ways to prevent being mistaken as an animal, or not being seen or heard, even if you are not a hunter.
Even though a person is not hunting and they are in or near a hunting area, they should wear blaze orange or a different bright color, like neon green, or bright pink. Wearing a bright color will help hunters to see a person from a distance, and help hunters not mistake a non-hunter for a deer or other animal. If a non-hunter chooses not to wear blaze orange during the firearms season while they are in or near a hunting area, they should follow these guidelines (Minnesota Department of Natural Resources):
“Wear bright clothing. Choose colors that stand out, like red, orange or green, and avoid white,
blacks, browns, earth-toned greens and animal-colored clothing. Blaze orange vests and hats are
     advisable.
Don’t forget to protect pets. Get an orange vest for an accompanying dog.
Make noise. Whistle, sing or carry on a conversation when walking to alert hunters that someone is in
      the area.
Sound carries well across woods and forests, and hunters should listen for any sounds of animal
     movement.
Be courteous. Don’t make unnecessary noise to disturb wildlife. Avoid confrontations.
Make presence known. If a nonhunter hears shooting, the person should raise their voice and let
      hunters know they’re in vicinity.
Know the dates of hunting seasons. Learn about where and when hunting is taking place.
If hunting makes a nonhunter uneasy, the nonhunter should choose a hike in a location where hunting       is not allowed”
One of the more dangerous methods of hunting is driving deer. This can be done safely if everyone involved follows the safety guidelines for doing a deer drive. Some things to do to be safe according to Outdoor Life are:
 Only allow the drivers at the end to carry a firearm
 Allow the standers to load their guns when they get to their post and unload it before they leave the post
 Everyone involved in the drive knows the route and make sure everyone knows where the posters are standing
(Sapir).
In case you are not sure of what you are shooting, do not shoot. It is better to be safe than sorry. If someone is going to shoot, they should make sure they know what their target is and what is behind the target. A bullet can hit something, like water or metal, and ricochet off, possibly hitting a person and in some cases killing them. Most often, a person is shot because someone mistook them for a deer, or someone shot at a deer and ended up hitting a person behind the deer. In other cases, a person might have been cleaning their gun and they forgot the gun still had bullets in it, and the gun goes off while they are cleaning it, and are shot (Smith).
In Minnesota, the law is that hunters must wear blaze orange on the upper half of their body, and it must be clearly visible. Blaze orange is an apparent color, and can be seen better than other colors in the woods because it sticks out. Hunters should not forget to wear blaze orange, so they can be seen by others hunting around them. Be safe this hunting season: wear blaze orange, make sure you know your target, what may be behind it and the location of others in your hunting party. Happy hunting!

Ice Fishing Safety Paper

Ice Fishing Safety
Tom thought it was a nice day to go ice fishing, so he grabbed his fishing gear and loaded it into his truck. When Tom got to the lake access, he put on his lifejacket and did not roll down his windows. He did not take with a friend. Without checking the depth of the ice or the local snowfall amount, Tom drove onto the lake. About one hundred feet off shore Tom heard a loud snap, crackle, and pop. Tom did not pay much attention to the loud noise and all of a sudden, he found himself underwater. He tried to open his door, but the truck filling with water and the flotation from his lifejacket made it almost impossible to get out. Tom knew he should not panic, or he would lose more oxygen than he needed to. After several minutes of struggling, Tom lost the fight to get above the ice. Help was too far away, and nobody knew he was going out fishing.
There are things you can do to avoid accidents and be safe. Despite the newness or thickness of the ice, you can still fall through. Always fish with someone, so if something happens to one person, the other person can call for help. Following a guide for ice fishing safety will allow you to have a safer fishing experience, but ice is unpredictable, so following the safety tips will not guarantee safety one hundred percent. Typically, the ice-fishing season in Minnesota is from December to March. The ice is not necessarily thick enough to support weight by December, and by March it is starting to melt and slush is present by this time too.

Ice Thickness Guidelines

Always proceed with caution on to the ice. Using caution before stepping out onto the ice will better your chances of not falling in and will help prevent a dangerous situation. The thickness of the ice is the deciding factor if it is safe to go fishing. Follow these rules when considering going ice fishing:
• 2 inches or less: stay off the ice
• 4 inches: It is ok for a person to go on the ice
• 5 inches: It is ok to ride a snowmobile or ATV on the ice
• 8-12 inches: It is ok to drive a car or small truck on the ice
• 12-15 inches: It is ok to drive a medium size truck on the ice
(Minnesota Department of Natural Resources).

Ice Condition Factors

Depending on where you are at on the lake, the thickness of the ice can vary. Many factors make the ice the condition it is. If you are near a crick, it is more likely the ice will be thin because the water current is moving, causing the ice nearby to be weak from the current. Ice closer to shore is a lot thinner than ice that is in the middle of the lake. Wind can break the ice and cause it to pile up, especially near open water. Snow is an insulator for ice, which can cause the ice to be weaker where the snow is thicker. It is warmer where the snow is insulating, causing the ice to not be made as fast (New Hampshire Fish and Game Department).
How to Measure the Depth of the Ice
You can check with local bait shops or other anglers to find out the depth of the ice, the local snowfall amounts, and the amount of slush on the ice and where it is located. This allows you to avoid certain spots on the lake, and to know where it is relatively safe to fish. If you are not able to ask local bait shops or other anglers, or you just want to measure the depths of the ice yourself, go for it. To make a hole in the ice, use a chisel, ice auger, chainsaw, or drill. Use a tape measure to measure the thickness of the ice (Minnesota Department of Natural Resources).
Things Anglers May Not Know

Some things anglers may not know is that newer ice is more likely to hold more weight than older ice, even if the older ice is thicker than the newer ice. When the ice cracks, it usually means that it is making new ice, but sometimes it can mean something or someone is falling through. Be cautious around dark ice, because it is likely dangerous. Dark ice usually means that it is thin, or there was slush where the darkened ice is, and then it froze over, which causes pockets in the ice. Dark ice is apparent at the beginning of the ice-fishing season when the ice is thickening. It is also apparent at the beginning of February or the early part of March when the weather starts to warm up and ice is starting to melt. Always look for dark ice when going onto the ice, but be more aware when the ice-fishing season is beginning and ending (Minnesota Department of Natural Resources).
Other Helpful Safety Gear
Ice picks are a handy tool to take with you in case you fall through the ice. Have the ice picks wrapped around your neck or in a handy place, so if you fall through you can put the picks in the ice to help pull yourself up. Wearing a life jacket will help keep you afloat if you were to fall through the ice. Ice cleats go on the bottom of your boots to help you from falling when the ice is slippery (New Hampshire Fish and Game Department).
Guidelines for Driving On Ice

When driving on ice, make sure to have your windows rolled down in case your vehicle was to fall through. This way you can escape through the window, and not have to fight the pressure of the water while trying to open the door. The front of the vehicle is going to go down first because of the weight of the engine. Going out the back window will give you a little more time to escape. Do not drink alcohol while you are on the ice because it impairs your judgment. Do not overdrive your headlights because it will be harder to see where you are going. While driving your ATV on the ice wear some type of flotation device under your winter gear in case you fall in. Do not wear it while in the fish house or in a vehicle because you would float, making it harder to escape if you were to go under water (Minnesota Department of Natural Resources).
In Case Someone Falls In

In case someone falls in the water, do not jump in after him or her. Instead of jumping in, reassure the person that help is on the way and that they can stay above the water. If something is available to throw, like a rope or ladder, throw the object to them, but stay a safe distance away so you will not also fall in the water. Once professional help is there let them handle the situation (Minnesota Department of Natural Resources).

Following these safety tips will not guarantee that nothing will happen, but it will help make your trip more enjoyable. We hope this helps you the next time you or someone you know goes fishing!

2014 NBA Preview: The Los Angeles Lakers

Posted | Views: 1,052
#24 Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers… the name itself screams basketball. This is the most legendary franchise in all of the NBA with multiple hall-of-famers such as Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabar.
This 2014-15 squad still has future Hall-of-Famer on it named Kobe Bryant, but we all know he’s on the downhill slope of his legendary career. It kills me to say that… As an "NBA lifer", it would be idiotic to not appreciate what Kobe Bryant has done for the game. Unfortunately, his bones are brittle and his knees aren’t getting any younger. He will be a great role model to the younger players on the Lakers squad, but the question is, how many of those younger players will be with the Lakers for the long-term. This Lakers roster looks like it may be shaping up space to offer one of the soon to be free agents in a couple of years..  (KD).
Even though this roster doesn’t look to be playoff bound this season, it still has some solid talent that will translate to some decent wins throughout this season. I think the "Black Mamba" will make sure of that. At the point guard position the Lakers will have both Steve Nash and Jeremy Lin. I’m sure that newly appointed head coach Byron Scott will start Nash to start the season, but Nash has struggled to stay healthy these last couple years, therefore I think we will see more "Linsanity" at that postion this season. Last year with the Rockets, Lin averaged 12.5 points along with four assists per game. He was a good pickup for the Lakers this offseason, despite his more than hefty salary.
First round draft pick Julius Randle is another player who shows a lot of promise. He was a beast at Kentucky last season, and many scouts believe he will have a career similar to Zach Randolph's because of their similar skill sets and body frame. Both players bang in the post and finish near the rim. Carlos Boozer is another offseason addition that will help out in the near future. He was claimed off of waivers once the Bulls dropped him in order to have cap space to sign Pau Gasol (away from Lakers) in the offseason.
I think the Lakers strong point this season will be its wing scoring. Along with Kobe, the Lakers have streaky shooter Nick Young. “Swaggy P” can light it up, and when he’s on fire, be sure to get out of his way. But he struggled with consistency throughout his career, so it’ll be interesting to see how he performs in his expanded role. The Lakers could potentially start him along with Kobe on the wing once he's recovered from his hand injury.
I think one player who's overlooked in the NBA is Xavier Henry. I’ve been watching him play since middle school, and he's got game. If it weren’t for injuries, I truly believe he would be living up to his lottery pick selection. He averaged ten points last season, to go along with a monster slam on former college teammate Jeff Withey, which many people think was the dunk of the year. If Henry can stay healthy, don’t be surprised to see him become one of the top bench scorers in the league.
The Lakers have some other solid bench contributers. Ryan Kelly is a smart player, that can knock it down from behind the arc. He should contribute off the bench along with Ed Davis and Wesley Johnson. Then there's Robert Sacre is a good “team guy” that brings good vibes, but good vibes only go so far. The bench play is much improved from last season, but I still don’t know how good they are compared to other teams in the league.
Kobe will lead this team to at least 35 plus victories if he can stay healthy and stay on the court. The Lakers could potentially make the playoffs if they played in the Eastern Conference, but unfortunately for them... they don’t. The West is stacked, plain and simple. It would definitely be a shock to still see this team playing into late May.

2014 NBA Preview: The Minnesota Timberwolves

#25 Minnesota Timberwolves
It’s been a long time since basketball has been where it needs to be inside of Target Center in Minneapolis. In fact, it’s been a decade since the Timberwolves have been to the playoffs, and the “Big Ticket” aka: Kevin Garnett was still the best player in the Twin Cities when that happened (don’t forget Wally Szczerbiak)
Though it’s been quite sometime since they’ve reached the mecca of the playoffs, the Wolves and their fan-base weren’t left without hope. They had a young, talented star in Kevin Love that was supposed to deliver the land of 10,000 lakes to the promise land, and no I’m not talking about the Mall of America. That all changed this offseason when Love decided that he wanted to be traded away from the organization that drafted him. Many think the Wolves are starting from scratch now that their best player is gone, but that really isn’t the case. After breaking down their roster, there are a few different things that I noticed that could play a big factor in where this team finishes at the end of the season.
The T'Wolves have a plethora of young talent. I mean when you trade someone good, you’re going to get some good pieces back, right? That’s exactly what the Wolves did. In exchange for Love, they received the first pick from the last two drafts in Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett. I know what you must be saying, “Wiggins is good, but Bennett has clearly been a bust in the NBA so far.” That statement may have some substance, but many young draft picks are chosen based on potential, and  Bennett still has plenty of that. Much of the criticism he's faced was that he wasn’t in good enough shape to play heavy NBA minutes, but that problem may have been resolved this offseason. Bennett had his tonsils removed, and has reportedly said he can finally breath the right way which should help his play. Also….. the Cleveland Cavaliers post and pre LeBron weren’t necessarly the cream of the crop when it came to developing players. Their franchise has had plenty of turmoil from their egotistic owner, to the inconsistency of the coaching staff. I mean what kind of organization fires Mike Brown and then re-hires him three years later? Then oh yeah fires him again after a year? Don’t forget that even their young phenom Kyrie Irving supposedly asked to be traded halfway through the season. This isn't about the Cavs, but what I’m getting at is that Bennett will have more opportunities to shine in Minnesota where he will face less pressure, and will have a head coach in Flip Saunders who is known for developing young players (ex: John Wall,  Garnett).
Let's not forget about Andrew Wiggins. Yes, he was hyped as “Maple Jordan” before he even rocked the KU Blue, but I truly believe he can grow into being an NBA superstar. He has the frame and the athleticism to thrive in this league, and I definitely expect him to do so. I also think the whole "being the first, first pick to ever be traded before the season" will also serve as extra motivation for him. Hopefully we'll see the product we all hoped we would when he was emerging from high school in Canada.
Another piece of young talent on this Timberwolves squad is Gorgui Dieng. Most of you may remember him from the NCAA Tournament a couple years ago when Dieng, along with Peyton Siva and Russ Smith led the Louisville Cardinals to a National Championship. Dieng was slow to get going during his rookie season, but he eventually started to flourish as the year went along. In the last two months of the season, Dieng averaged ten points and ten rebounds. Not bad for a rookie. Not to mention he's a stellar shot blocker, averaging two a game in the month of April. Let's also not forget how good Shabazz Muhammed was supposed to be. Last year he struggled to get going, only appearing in 37 games and averaging about three points. He was heralded similar to Wiggins coming out as the top high school prospect in the class of 2012, but after a bumpy year at USC he fell to the bottom of the lottery in last years draft and he's yet to recover from his free fall. If he can somehow blossom into the player we all thought he could be, the young talent on this T’Wolves team could be outright scary.
The Timberwolves also have some veterans they can sprinkle in with the young talent. Let me go ahead and remind everyone that Nicola Pekovic is no scrub. The dude is a double-double machine and he can rebound with some of the best in the NBA. He’s a strong, Russian presence in the paint for the Timberwolves, and if he can stay healthy then look for him to increase his scoring average from 17 points per game to over 20 with the absence of K-Love.
Then there's Ricky Rubio, the Spanish phenom. It didn’t seem like too long ago when all the hype was about a Steve Nash 2.0 playing over in Spain, and "just wait" until we see the next great passing point guard. I'll admit his passing ability is among the top in the league, but if he’s going to live up to any of his pre-NBA hype, he'll have to figure out how to make a jump shot. You would think NBA players wouldn’t struggle with something so simple as a mid-range jumper, seeing that they are in a gym shooting all day, but clearly that’s way over my head (do I sound like a frustrated Timberwolves fan?). But in all seriousness, Rubio is in the top half tier of NBA point guards and if they can find a consistent wing scorer then his assists will go up from 8.6 a clip.
Along with Wiggins and Bennett, the Wolves were able to acquire Thaddeus Young from the Philadelphia 76ers in what could be the dark horse of the trade. Young was one of the few bright spots on a 76ers team that could go down as one of the worst in NBA history (maybe because they were purposely tanking). He averaged 18 points and six rebounds, and if he can duplicate that effort in Minnesota, the Timberwolves won’t be near as bad as I have them projected.
Flip Saunders will be coming back down to the bench. Who was the coach when the Timberwolves last made the playoffs you might ask? The answer is Flip.  He was leading team filled with Sam Cassell, Latrell Sprewell, Wally Szczerbiak and Kevin Garnett to the Western Conference Finals. He was no stranger to the playoffs even when he left Minnesota. Flip was the coach of the Pistons after Larry Brown stepped down, and he went to few Eastern Conference finals with Chauncey BIllups, Rip Hamilton, Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace

Flip was back as the president of basketball operations last year, but now that Rick Adelman is no longer the man, Flip has chosen none other them himself to lead this team back to prominence. I think Flip has the tools to do so if given time, and I think it’s the right move for the Timberwolves going forward.
The playoffs are a humongous stretch for the Timberwolves because they play in a stacked Western Conference, but to say they’re the worst team in the league isn’t giving them their due justice. They also have players such as Kevin Martin, Corey Brewer, J.J. Barea and Chase Budinger that should contribute this season. I truly believe that in two or three years this will be a team to look out for.
